I like EV's a lot (currently own 2)… rented a Polestar 2 for a week while traveling and really hated it. Felt super small inside and did not make good use of the interior space like most other EV's do. We had heard good things about Polestars and were surprised how much we didn't like it. It was such a treat to return home to our Bolt EUV.

The $10,000 incentive, is that from polestar? It isn't a government rebate correct?
$7500 is from the govt, but the rest is from Polestar.

Before anyone buys an EV (or any car), do yourself a favor and test drive a Tesla with FSD 12.3.x. Absolutely incredible experience and easy to see why most cars in the not so distant future will be autonomous. Unlike Waymo or similar solutions, Tesla FSD is purely vision based and doesn't need ultra expensive hardware or to the millimeter mapping.

I've been following this space for years and always thought Musk was full of @#$^# with his undelivered promises of self driving cars that were about to go mainstream. I'd tried earlier versions of FSD and, while impressive, they gave me no confidence that Tesla FSD would ever be capable of unassisted autonomous driving. Then I tried FSD 12.3.4 and I'm sold - this is the future and the near future at that. Just for this tech, I wouldn't even consider another car.

Umm, I really _really_ don't think Tesla will solve autonomy with the current hardware (just cameras).

Polestar technology is super easy and intuitive.
Well Consumer Reports disagrees with you on quality/reliability but what would they know. The Polestar 2 was given a score of a 38 but you said "far" twice so I guess I should rethink their score.

do you need to pay for the depreciation in the end when you return the car?
What do you mean? The money you pay monthly ($299 + taxes) is all you need to be paying, unless you cause what they call "extra wear and tear". The monthly payment is supposed to cover the vehicle's depreciation (that's what leasing does).

It's a nice experience and something cool to show off for about a week then you get over it and go back to normal driving. The only time I use it now is when I need to open a water bottle that I overtightened the cap and can't open with one hand or highway driving.

FSD is getting there, but not quite. Had a few times that it just drove straight through a bunch of solid lines in a roundabout. Also another time where the FSD just disabled in the middle of a left turn, which happened to me and my coworker, so I know I'm not the only one. It also always wants to change lanes for no reason. Definitely feel more comfortable using it on a highway than I do on city roads.

Yeah. I own a 2023 Model 3 RWD, got it for $29k after tax rebate. It's built as well as my Prius, which is a great car too.[/QUOT

And how your 2 cars connected to Polestar in this thread?
you were the one that asked the Tesla question. 🤦 ♂️

Tesla, obviously.

No, I didn't ask Tesla question, according to you Tesla quality is better
than Polestar but you never have one, while comparing it to Prius, so I trying to find a connection here.

What version did you try last? I'll admit it's not ready for pure autonomous driving, but the version I tried is damn close. I'd be surprised if it doesn't get to "better than human" ability within the next year. I'm even more excited for people like my mother who is pretty much too old to drive but still does.

That was my previous sentiment - go try out FSD 12.3.4 or higher and then let me know if you change your mind.

Why is Polestar available for sale in US and not BYD?
Volvo has a factory in South Carolina or something which allows Geely to import their Polestar vehicles without the high tariffs. Hopefully Geely brings over Zeekr as well.

This is very competitive with the model 3. The build quality and NVH is much much better, tech is a bit worse. The Plus and Pilot packages are must-haves and are both 'included' in the base model 3 DMLR.
What is DMLR? Thanks!

Model 3. Clear from the post that I replied to
Maybe I should've added a /s to be more clear? The M3 nomenclature refers to the BMW M3 in the automotive community, not a Tesla Model 3. They are two completely different class of vehicles

I am interested in jumping to this deal but have never done the lease before. are there any additional things negotiable? or as long as the number $1k down after costco coupon, and $299 a month, it should be fine. Anything else out of pocket?
Also check to see how your state handles leases from a sales tax perspective. In Texas you have to pay all the sales tax up front for the total value of the car.
