I like EV's a lot (currently own 2)… rented a Polestar 2 for a week while traveling and really hated it. Felt super small inside and did not make good use of the interior space like most other EV's do. We had heard good things about Polestars and were surprised how much we didn't like it. It was such a treat to return home to our Bolt EUV.

will it be a crazy thing if a guy from the Dakotas gets this? I mean can it handle our minus 30 winters?
The brand is originally from Sweden, and they do a lot of testing near the poles (ha). I've been following their newer models (the Polestar 3 and 4) coming out in the next few months, so have seen a lot of test footage where they drive around in super wintry conditions.

I'm guessing you'll most likely be fine as long as you can charge at home.

Can you buy out the car after the lease ends unlike Tesla?
Yeah you can buy it at the end of the lease.

Is qualifying for the federal tax credits a prerequisite to getting the deal? Or would they get the credit regardless of my qualifications? I can't qualify so it seems like it makes sense to lease at a good price.
Show off! laugh out loud

No income limit issues when you're leasing. The EV rebates are passed from the federal govt to Polestar, who passes that plus another $2500 onto you.

Not enough mileage for me. Thanks OP. Lessee is responsible for excess wear and mileage over 10,000 miles/year at $0.25/mile.

Okay. But what if you replaced one of your current "old" ice sedans with a "new" ice sedan? I'm pretty sure insurance rates would go up also.

Example, if you have an 8 year old ice Honda Accord, and replace it with a brand new ice Honda Accord, then your insurance will probably also go up $600. So it is not just that it is a new EV, a new "anything" (ICE, EV, Hybrid) will cost more to insure.

The wife has a newer model Accord and I can see the split of insurance rates between mine and hers. Replacing my car with a new Accord should add about $200.
When I called Progressive to get a quote, the lady on the other side did mention that EVs are more expensive to fix so the rates have been higher (she mentioned Teslas, but I'm guessing she meant to say EVs)

The nearest Polestar location to me is calculating the $2000 Costco incentive as a discount off of the MSRP (like the $10k clean vehicle incentive) instead of taking it off of the downpayment amount. The result is the monthly payment being a few dollars lower, but it doesn't seem like $2000 less over the course of the lease. Has that happened to anyone else?

"They're doing just fine."

This is literally what you said.

Then when presented with facts, because you clearly don't understand the financials of the company, you resorted back to talking about the lease.

I still stand by what I said. Polestar will go bankrupt very soon.

As for being an EV guru, I just follow the space more than any average person would because I have a huge investment in this space.

Anyone who thinks Polestar will survive in the future are going to be very disappointed. Even Polestar buyers are nervous and won't touch it because they're worried it would go bankrupt and with that, their service centers would be removed and no more OTA updates.
You clearly didn't trace back who is the real owner. And I am not just talking about Geely

I'm seeing something like this on their website as well. I was told it should only add about $20 by the dealer. I'll talk to the dealership again to verify.

But it's really more because it's a 55K vehicle, not that it's higher just because it's an EV (ask any Bolt owner).

My insurance went down when I bought an EV.

Sadly, the Polestar cars have the worst possible ratings according to Consumer Reports.
Otherwise I would consider this car.
