How do folks who have CSR or CSP feel about Chase's travel portal? I find that while I can get a 50% bonus on point redemption, the stuff is usually marked up a bit so that I'm not getting that amazing of a deal in reality. For example, the price might be 10% higher than I could get on Priceline or directly through the airline/rental car company/hotel, so it makes it more like a 35% bonus.

For me, the math on the CSR is becoming hard to justify. The lounge benefit is losing restaurants, the annual fee increased, I don't get a ton of value out of the DoorDash benefit. This is probably my last year, but I might be enticed by another signup bonus like this.
i hardly if ever book directly on the travel portal, not great value because like you said, prices arent the most competitive. i typically use it to transfer points to air france or southwest if i see a good deal with the airlines directly.

As others said, yes you can. I did it on my CSR about a year ago, and plan to do it for my wife once she hits the 4 year mark.

One area of clarification, it is 4 years since you RECEIVED the bonus. Not 4 years since being approved for the card, or 4 years since canceling. In case that helps you or anyone else. So if you were approved for the card in March of 2020 and hit the requirement for the bonus in June of 2020, you would want to wait until June or maybe even July to apply again to be safe.
I'm sorry if it was already answered.
So if I got my CSP bonus in March 2020 and I canceled it last year, let's say October 2023, can I re-sign CSP and get the bonus?
Is there a term for waiting to reapply after canceling the card?
Thank you very much in advance.

I like this card due to its Primary Insurance for car rentals purchased with the Card. Also, I use it for 1:1 for United or Southwest. I've never used the travel portal for ultimate reward points.
I've only used it once and it was because the dinky rental place had "NO AMEX CARDS ACCEPTED" everywhere (their merchant service accepted it probably, but they didn't want to deal with the insurance benefit and cutting into selling you their own insurance). Had 4-5k in damages and I contacted whomever Chase uses for insurance and they reimbursed me within a few weeks.

If you just want a card for travel/no FTFs/rental insurance, I recommend this one.

My understanding, and a quick look at a Reddit thread on the topic agrees, is you should be good within a few days if you product change to something like a Chase Freedom Flex. If you cancel you should wait at least 30 days. Since you canceled but about 8 months ago, you should be fine.

And yeah as long as you are sure your bonus came in March, you are set on that front as well.

I had my CSR for three years and then waited a year and applied and got the bonus again, so fairly similar to you, no issues with SUB.

My wife and I just transfer our points to Hyatt, where they are usually around 1.5 cents in value if not more. We cruise a lot, though, so the card is worth it for us because we get 3% back on all of our cruises and then always stay in a Hyatt the night before, paid with points. We also don't get medical insurance for our cruises anymore, since the card includes evacuation insurance + a small amount of medical insurance.

I haven't flown to Europe in a decade, but you can always transfer points to try to get a business class ticket, as well, if you save up enough. And ya, my backup plan for if we ever stop cruising and have to close the card would be to just transfer all the points to Southwest. But hopefully we never stop cruising Smilie
how does that "small medical ins" work? the last time i went to mexico then admitted to their hospital due to a major diarreah. bill was like $8k oop.

Give it a shot by calling them directly. Some reps might help and match the offer. It's sheer luck!

how long does it take for chase to send the credit card? i have a big purchase coming up in about 10-12 days.

You can have access to it in Apple or Google pay right away by adding it through the Chase app. I applied today and already made a few purchases on it.

I keep this card just for car rental insurance. Recommended.

Be aware that this card doesn't cover liability (damage to other cars, other property and other people). However OUTSIDE USA it is often a legal requirement (eg. Europe) for the car rental company itself to include liability in their rate (at no additional cost).

As a former road warrior I find this is a complex subject and that 99.9% people with this card are unaware they are not covered in the USA for liability. A family member had a card with rental coverage, crashed into someone in California and had to pay the bill (damage to the other person's car). I often go to europe for work and see that liability is included in the rate so I don't need to worry about it. To read more go to thepointsguy and read dedicated articles on this subject.

If you have auto insurance for your cars then that insurance typically covers liability on rental cars
