How do folks who have CSR or CSP feel about Chase's travel portal? I find that while I can get a 50% bonus on point redemption, the stuff is usually marked up a bit so that I'm not getting that amazing of a deal in reality. For example, the price might be 10% higher than I could get on Priceline or directly through the airline/rental car company/hotel, so it makes it more like a 35% bonus.

For me, the math on the CSR is becoming hard to justify. The lounge benefit is losing restaurants, the annual fee increased, I don't get a ton of value out of the DoorDash benefit. This is probably my last year, but I might be enticed by another signup bonus like this.
i hardly if ever book directly on the travel portal, not great value because like you said, prices arent the most competitive. i typically use it to transfer points to air france or southwest if i see a good deal with the airlines directly.

I thought the whole point of primary insurance of a credit card is not to have to use your own car insurance. Which credit card covers liability also then? Altitude reserve?

No cards cover liability (noting my point though that outside USA the rental firms cover it usually).

So as the other poster mentioned after me, your car insurance covers liability sometimes. You need to check if car rentals are covered. Mine for example covers cars but doesn't cover uhaul like trucks. If you don't own a car then you don't have insurance so you have to cover the whole bill.

Primary vs secondary rental coverage isn't related to liability.

It's worth noting that USA car rental fees that I've seen is a lot less than European fees. Currency exchange may be a factor but it's also because USA liability is optional charge and not mandatory/built in.

PSA: You can get the 75k points with 10K referral by changing the "m" to an "n" in the referral link.

How can I refer my wife with this offer? When I refer her through the app, her bonus is only 60k instead of 75k.

Is this usually instant approval? I got a reviewing application screen.

You can check your credit report and that information should be there. but what you need to know is when you last received a bonus. I'm not sure if points activity goes that far back.

Is there a chance they might not give us the points later if we use this loophole?

Applying in person was more of a hassle than I expected so if I can get the 85k for the CSP online via referral, would much prefer that

There is so much misinformation in this post... The card covers collision, not liability, that is so. But everything in the post above about US and Europe is very, very confused.

I generated a new referral code from Chase's site this afternoon that had the updated UR points so you don't have to do the workaround. I split the referral with friends since my spouse is still within the 48 month wait.

I've had this card for probably eight years or so now if anyone has any questions about long term value, perks etc. I think I got 100K points when I signed up, but I haven't seen that many points offered since 2021 when the travel industry needed a jump start post COVID.
We've used the points for multiple hotel stays and some flights as well. Very easy to redeem and transfer.
If you want to see how many points you might earn per year based on your spend patterns, check out the calculator we built that factors in the rewards rates for each category. Just select the Sapphire Preferred from the drop-down and plug in your numbers. It'll tell you the dollar value of the points you earn in a 12-month period https://money.slickdeals.net/credit-card-rewards-calculator/

I just finished speaking to a Chase rep, cancelling my Preferred card. She assured me that I can get a Reserve SUB independent of my Preferred SUB a year ago if I chose to apply (after at least one billing cycle, of course). Take that for what it's worth.

I would double check or make sure to get that reps card because I think you been misled. It's right there on the website when you click on the link,.
