How do folks who have CSR or CSP feel about Chase's travel portal? I find that while I can get a 50% bonus on point redemption, the stuff is usually marked up a bit so that I'm not getting that amazing of a deal in reality. For example, the price might be 10% higher than I could get on Priceline or directly through the airline/rental car company/hotel, so it makes it more like a 35% bonus.

For me, the math on the CSR is becoming hard to justify. The lounge benefit is losing restaurants, the annual fee increased, I don't get a ton of value out of the DoorDash benefit. This is probably my last year, but I might be enticed by another signup bonus like this.
i hardly if ever book directly on the travel portal, not great value because like you said, prices arent the most competitive. i typically use it to transfer points to air france or southwest if i see a good deal with the airlines directly.

they really need to create a promotion to incentivize current preferred to upgrade to reserve.

I just applied in branch for the CSP card with 75K points after $4K spend in 3mo, and then an additional 10K points after $6K total spend in 6mo. The annual fee of $95 is not waived for the 1st yr (I don't recall it being waived in the recent past). If you apply in branch, the banker will be able to check if you are eligible for the bonus (the 48mo previous stipulation, etc).

I hope the referral for the 85K promo works for people. I was under the impression that it's either 85K in branch, or 75K with the referror getting the additional 10K. But I'm not sure. If you do it in branch, there's no referror getting anything.

My in branch experience was great. I made an appt, and I was in & out in 15min, and I got a printed page with the offer on it (75K for $4K in 3mo, 85K for $6K total in 6mo). My banker confirmed it's an additional $2K for the extra 10K points, and if I wanted to charge the $6K on day 1, I would get the 85K soon after that (no need for the 6mo).

Also, banker 'expedited' the card to me (I asked how fast I'd get the card, I had big payments to make soon). I will get it ~2 days via UPS delivery at my door.

No cards cover liability (noting my point though that outside USA the rental firms cover it usually).

So as the other poster mentioned after me, your car insurance covers liability sometimes. You need to check if car rentals are covered. Mine for example covers cars but doesn't cover uhaul like trucks. If you don't own a car then you don't have insurance so you have to cover the whole bill.

Primary vs secondary rental coverage isn't related to liability.

It's worth noting that USA car rental fees that I've seen is a lot less than European fees. Currency exchange may be a factor but it's also because USA liability is optional charge and not mandatory/built in.
Also rideshare 'rentals' like Turo are not covered. They are not considered rentals by the credit card companies.

How can I refer my wife with this offer? When I refer her through the app, her bonus is only 60k instead of 75k.
Have your wife go inbranch to open for 85K points offer. Referrals are *taxed*, SUB are not. At least currently.

Here is my personal experience:
Most of the time, flight and hotel reservations booked through Chase were routed through Expedia with the lowest tier (aka no carry on). When I had trouble with reservations, I called Chase travel support, waited for them to call me back, explained my problems, then waited for Chase to talk to other travel agents. Chase support are great but the total wait time is 2-3 hrs for most troubleshooting.
I'd rather transfer the points to airlines and book through them.

I've used them for hotels. I have found they are generally higher priced than I can get (ie no AAA, corporate, loyalty program discounts & benefits), and even slightly higher than 'regular' prices on Expedia. And after booking, Chase travel has actually *used* Expedia for the booking themselves (when calling hotel, they mention your 'Expedia booking'). After my CSP 25% bonus, the price comes out slightly below the rates I could have gotten myself, so I still use them (vs just get it in cashback).

Darn, doubt this will still be available on Aug 1 when I'm back under 5/24. Any DP's of people getting approved online while not under 5/24? (I've heard, in-branch you can sometimes get approved over 5/24.)
If you go in-branch, the banker can tell if you qualify for the SUB again. With your Chase info/history, he starts a credit card app for you. Then all the cards where you qualify for SUB will pop up. If CSP is there, you are golden. If not, then thank the banker and try another time. You have not applied for any card yet with this, you were just starting the app process and seeing what cards you qualify for, so no harm done.

Honestly it seems like too much work for a card that has an annual fee. Complimentary access to DashPass?...so worthless, plus all the insurance stuff too. If you don't do everything perfectly then you're screwed. It's a waste of time and money.

I would double check or make sure to get that reps card because I think you been misled. It's right there on the website when you click on the link,.

"This product is available to you if you do not have any Sapphire card and have not received a new cardmember bonus for any Sapphire card in the past 48 months."
This was a Sapphire card customer rep on the phone. I asked that very question several times as I've read the same quoted text... she was insistent that it's SUB per card. Not sure I believe it but might try later on this year.

It's just worthwhile for the SUB of 85K, or 75K even. 75K equals $750 for spending $4K. After subtracting out the $95 annual fee, it's a straight $655 profit that isn't taxed ($755 if you do the $6K spend). Plus there are also other perks, like a $50 credit if you use the Chase Travel. After the 1st year/SUB, you'd have to consider if it's worthwhile to keep for the annual fee.

You simply do not understand why these cards with high SUB are great. OK, thank for letting us know.

If you go in-branch and have the banker step through the app, the cards where you qualify for SUB will show, so you'll know for sure. People who didn't qualify (<48mo, etc), CSP or CSR cards did not show up to choose for application.
