How do folks who have CSR or CSP feel about Chase's travel portal? I find that while I can get a 50% bonus on point redemption, the stuff is usually marked up a bit so that I'm not getting that amazing of a deal in reality. For example, the price might be 10% higher than I could get on Priceline or directly through the airline/rental car company/hotel, so it makes it more like a 35% bonus.

For me, the math on the CSR is becoming hard to justify. The lounge benefit is losing restaurants, the annual fee increased, I don't get a ton of value out of the DoorDash benefit. This is probably my last year, but I might be enticed by another signup bonus like this.
i hardly if ever book directly on the travel portal, not great value because like you said, prices arent the most competitive. i typically use it to transfer points to air france or southwest if i see a good deal with the airlines directly.

If you go in-branch and have the banker step through the app, the cards where you qualify for SUB will show, so you'll know for sure. People who didn't qualify (<48mo, etc), CSP or CSR cards did not show up to choose for application.
Thanks, might try doing that in a local branch.

I just applied in branch for the CSP card with 75K points after $4K spend in 3mo, and then an additional 10K points after $6K total spend in 6mo. The annual fee of $95 is not waived for the 1st yr (I don't recall it being waived in the recent past). If you apply in branch, the banker will be able to check if you are eligible for the bonus (the 48mo previous stipulation, etc).

I hope the referral for the 85K promo works for people. I was under the impression that it's either 85K in branch, or 75K with the referror getting the additional 10K. But I'm not sure. If you do it in branch, there's no referror getting anything.

My in branch experience was great. I made an appt, and I was in & out in 15min, and I got a printed page with the offer on it (75K for $4K in 3mo, 85K for $6K total in 6mo). My banker confirmed it's an additional $2K for the extra 10K points, and if I wanted to charge the $6K on day 1, I would get the 85K soon after that (no need for the 6mo).

Also, banker 'expedited' the card to me (I asked how fast I'd get the card, I had big payments to make soon). I will get it ~2 days via UPS delivery at my door.
I went to my local branch and they couldn't find the application to sign up...waste of time.

Any chances of seeing a better deal than this in next 1-2 months? I need a new travel card asap.

My uncle is Aaron Burr so I can say for sure that a 100k offer will be here soon.

The banker was supposed to start a general credit card application for you. He takes your info (name, DL, etc) and pulls up any existing info on you (if you have other accts there). Then he enters that you want to apply for a credit card --- then all the credit card options for you will list out, along with their SUB. Those are the credit cards & SUB you qualify for. That's what my experience was like (as I stated I wasn't sure if I was out of 48mo or not). Sorry your banker/experience was bad.

This was a Sapphire card customer rep on the phone. I asked that very question several times as I've read the same quoted text... she was insistent that it's SUB per card. Not sure I believe it but might try later on this year.

She's either incorrect or you've heard her wrong. This is one of if not the most widely understood rules in the credit card churning world

You simply do not understand why these cards with high SUB are great. OK, thank for letting us know.

You can have access to it in Apple or Google pay right away by adding it through the Chase app. I applied today and already made a few purchases on it.
Same. Applied Saturday, added my card to Google Pay this morning and will receive the physical card Wednesday.

OK, your 60 seconds to fill out an applications online is worth more than $650. Got it. What are you doing here again?

I'm hearing her just fine. I suspect she is incorrect, but she answered the same questions asked several different ways. As mentioned, it'll be possible to check before applying, so I will simply do that.

I think the best you'll get for redemption is not using chase travel portal. Rather it's transferring points to Hyatt.

So recommended combo is CSP (not CSR) and Hyatt transfer.
You have to personally value Hyatt very highly for it to be a good deal, as their rates are inflated relative to comparable hotels. This is why the transfer rate is so good - Chase isn't making any less money on you than someone who just cashes out their points. If you value Hyatt properties very highly, it may be good, but if all you're looking for is a nice hotel, there's generally more value per point in the other options.

It sort of irks me when people advise transferring points to Hyatt as if it's overall a good deal.

Hyatt has the best transfer value per cent in comparison to other hotels but majority of the time it's worthwhile to transfer to airlines.

Granted I did score an 0.08/pt with a Hyatt booking I did recently which was amazing for a hotel.

Absolutely love this card- the only annual fee card I'll keep. Also, I'm not sure about the SD rules for threads like this, but I'm willing to split the $100 refer bonus 50/50 with anybody who wants a link.
