How do folks who have CSR or CSP feel about Chase's travel portal? I find that while I can get a 50% bonus on point redemption, the stuff is usually marked up a bit so that I'm not getting that amazing of a deal in reality. For example, the price might be 10% higher than I could get on Priceline or directly through the airline/rental car company/hotel, so it makes it more like a 35% bonus.

For me, the math on the CSR is becoming hard to justify. The lounge benefit is losing restaurants, the annual fee increased, I don't get a ton of value out of the DoorDash benefit. This is probably my last year, but I might be enticed by another signup bonus like this.
i hardly if ever book directly on the travel portal, not great value because like you said, prices arent the most competitive. i typically use it to transfer points to air france or southwest if i see a good deal with the airlines directly.

Can these points be redeemed for statement credit? And does it go 1:1 so about $750?

Yes but horrible use of redemption unless you never and I mean never travel or stay in hotels. Points don't expire (as long as a card is open) so why waste them on redemption credit.

With frozen credit wit all 3 bureau will it work or deny ?
Your app will be in pending status and you need to unfreeze your credit and then call their 1-800 number to ask them to run the credit pull again. Else your app will eventually get denied. For me, Chase pulled TransUnion but it might be different credit bureau for you because I believe Chase use different agencies at different US regions.

I just signed up a few weeks ago and only see 60k points if I spend $4k in 3 months.

Has anyone called them before to see if they will upgrade to this promotional 75k points?

wonder why they're stuck at 75,000 while Amex has been going all out at 100,000 150,000

You got me excited because I fly Southwest a lot and that could be good for me, but Chase Points->SW Points is only a 1.1 transfer. I get hung up on trying to get the best possible efficiency from my CSR points, as that's the only way I can justify the high fee.

Back in the day, I flew more, rented cars more, and stayed in hotels more. There are nice travel benefits on the CSR that I haven't used as often since the pandemic and since my daughter was born.
Not to mention if you book through a portal (Chase or any other) if the fare drops you can't just rebook and get credit for the fare difference as you could if you booked directly with Southwest or American.

American also recently announced only third party bookings through preferred travel agencies (list not yet available) will earn miles, except basic economy which will now only earn miles when booked directly through American.

I always check the portal and it's sometimes just fine but often overpriced, yeah. I prefer to book hotels straight for the member benefits anyway. I have about 300k points and I plan to move them all to Hyatt for hotel redemptions. The good point redemption is really the only big reason I have the card - besides the $300 travel credit.
Beware, re the travel portal. I booked a week's Hilton stay through the portal and Hilton did not want to give me the Hilton Hhonors points for the stay. They finally did but it took some escalation and convincing after which they gave me the ol' "We can make a one-time exception" warning.

I just booked a 3 night stay at Universal's Loews Royal Pacific Hotel with points to get the free Unlimited Fast Pass for all 4 days. Probably could have saved a little bit of "money" booking elsewhere, but not a lot more.

Losing the restaurant benefit is actually a positive for me if for no other reason than to help thin the herd a bit at the lounges (I fly out of Boston for what it's worth). Trying to use the restaurant benefit was more of a hassle than it was worth since at Logan it's past security anyway.

I think if you don't have direct access to a Sapphire lounge then the CSP is the card to get.

Even if you close the account you can still keep the points by transferring them to another Chase card, like the Freedom card. You won't be able to transfer the points to travel partners from the Freedom card, however, if you were to transfer the points to the Freedom card, then close the Sapphire card, then re-apply for the Sapphire (after waiting 48 months since your last Sapphire bonus) you can then transfer those points from the Freedom card to your new Sapphire card, and then you'd be able to use them at the travel portal and/or transfer them to partners.

I get that way too. I do the redeem statement credit. At the end of 2022, they did 1.5x redemption, so I used up all my points that way. Nowadays, I only see 1.25x, but still better than figuring out the transfers imo.

Yeah, that's why I mean by the 'book straight for the member benefits'. I did book through the Chase Portal for a National rental and was pleasantly surprised I got my points etc without a fuss

So what always works is as soon as you hit the spend limit then call and they will simply add the additional points to your account.

That's how all travel portals work when it comes to hotels (excluding Concur for corporate travel, and sometimes the "FHR" tier hotels on Amex Travel). Per the T&C's, you aren't entitled to the points for those stays, nor any of the benefits if you happen to have status with the hotel. Good that you were able to talk them into giving you the points, but they were correct that it was a one-time exception that they chose to grant you.
