As a former Disney Imagineer who has been to all Disney Parks worldwide and has a literal ride vehicle in his living room - I'm lamenting the current state of trash that is the US-based parks - Tokyo is where it's at.

Not only are the parks better, cleaner, friendlier, and more advanced, they're also much cheaper as of now. You could EASILY fly to Tokyo and spend 4 days there for less than a trip to WDW, no problem. Popcorn is around $2.50 USD. Tickets around $65 each. Stay at the Sheraton on the monorail line for cheap (and you can use Marriott Bonvoy points to do that for free). I've been twice in the past year and there is no comparison. The only downside is buying an extra suitcase, because you will be buying more gachapon and TDL souvenirs than you ever thought possible.

Plus you get the added benefit of the freshest sushi on Earth for $20 for a meal and get to visit the best city for tourists right now (although crowded, admittedly). Lastly, you could duck to Osaka to Universal Japan as well, which is another wonderful park. Or stay in Tokyo and see Sanrio Puroland for a Sanrio indoor theme park, which is so bad it's wonderful.

I would, however, avoid Tokyo Disney in June when they open Fantasy Springs, and it's too hot. TokyoDisney Sea will be a madhouse unless you just don't care about the new huge expansion.

You'll spend more at DL here because you'll need to purchase Genie+ if you want to ride more than 4 rides in a day. That adds another $120+ for a family of four, and that's the business model they're nickel and diming you with on this 'deal'.

Really, consider going to Tokyo instead of the US parks. Disneyland is pure trash and WDW is a beer-gut farm. I've had a Disneyland annual pass since 1990 (except when I worked at WDI), and this year I gave it up. Universal is eating their lunch.

Sorry but Disneyland sucks now. Poor customer service, terrible food, and broke-down rides. But maybe you'll get to witness some brawls.

this news is out in the wild. googling gave me all this [google.com].

but if it makes you feel more comfortable with my information, you can read it from disney park blogs [go.com] (not my source, but a source).

Earlier this year we went to Tokyo. Since it's right in the city, we spent two days at the two Disney Parks. The tickets for us two adults and two children cost $180 for each park. That's $180 for all four of us per day, including tax. They even still have free FastPasses, in addition to Genie+ like paid skip the line for a couple of rides at each park.

I'm not suggesting traveling to Japan just to go to Disney (unless you're an Uber Disney fan), but the price difference really puts the ridiculous ticket costs of US parks into prospective. Although granted part of the low cost is due to the strong Dollar exchange rate VS the Yen.
I would DEFINITELY suggest doing that over Disneyland SoCal. Hotels. food, parks in Japan are cheaper than in SoCal (although I'm a resident).

If I'm coming from anywhere else in the country, I'd fork over more cash for the flight to go to Japan and I'd maybe break even, be able to visit JAPAN and visit one of the best Disney parks out there Tokyo DisneySea.

At least on the West Coast, ZipAir has consistent like $500 r/t flights to Japan (everyone share 1 large check in!). Nice 4-star hotels in Tokyo can be like $100. Good luck finding a Motel 8 for less than $200 around Anaheim (+ $30/night parking!)

the caveat is that 1) the hordes of people leaving the park to get to Maihama Station every night, 2) the crazy long lines (Journey to the Center of the Earth was a 240 minute standby wait for us in March), and 3) just somewhat unpredictable weather, especially in summer with typhoons.

having said that, we went 2nd week of March, I paid $119 USD for 2 adult tickets booked a month out. I stayed one station away (Shin-Urayasu) and was able to go to/from hotel mid-day. including 2 days hotel stay it cost us under $300 to go to Tokyo Disney Sea.

just be prepared to wait in long lines, the Japanese people are masters at standing in endless lines with endless patience.

Yes, we dealt with all that in February. We were there both days before park open and left close to 9pm each day. We loved every moment of it... best Disney Park experience in my opinion despite the language barrier. We spent 2 of our 9 days on Disney and felt it was the appropriate amount of time for that and to see the greater Tokyo area (granted I've myself been there many times but it was the SO and kids' first time).

even worse is mid/end of March when the Japanese school year ends.

This might seem like a great offer but take it from someone who's experienced this before. This would be the worst time to go to Disney. It will be so crowded that your whole trip will be ruined.

Yep. We purposefully went before the school break and Sakura rush. And yes, I was glad that this was before Fantasy Springs opened. We'll probably wait a couple of years before going back.

It literally says Adults are $249 or $299. There is no $200 Adult deal.
Not arguing the exact amount of the adult price just stating $150 or less with Sam's Club 10% off is a potential ticket price and not misleading. It's $225 with the Sam's 10% of GC so it's pretty close to $200 on the adult ticket. Sorry I wasn't exact for you.

Anyone know if I can buy the sams gc here in the US and use in Japan Disney over the summer? Will that work?

If I book through Costco to package hotel will the park tickets still reflect this deal? Would like to get the GC included. Had to cancel our trip last year. Would like to try again.
