Go with the Pro's if you don't mind the specific style of inner ear but tips the Pro's have. These are an older generation and although the case might be magnetic, it doesn't have all the same features, like UBS-C, that the new Pro's do.

There are two versions of these. With MagSafe charge and without. This particular deal is for the latter.

I've had the AirPods Gen 2 for several years and would talk on them for hours everyday. I got my girlfriend and myself the Pro Gen 2 this past Christmas. The Pros suck for voice calls. I find myself going back to old regular AirPods. The Pros have noise cancellation if you think you'll need it. I also prefer the regulars for listening to music and podcasts. I like being able to hear what's around me due to the design of the regulars. The Pros can do a digital pass through but it isn't the same.

I'm thinking about upgrading from my version 2 airpods simply for the built-in airtag feature. Kids keep losing my current ones.
Debating whether I should wait for the next version to come out; anyone know when that's anticipated to be?

I agree with you. I have also used the pros before which were okay initially but developed several issues which required me to disconnect/reset everything several times…finally retired them as the people on the other side complained of static noise and low volume issues. Since then I am on my third set of 1st Gen AirPods as they are so much reliable for the calls and the battery also lasts longer.

It's been a very long time since the last update and according to the rumors, they are due for a new version sometime in 2024.

According to the mac rumors buyers guide, it's been 930 days since the airpods were last updated with a new model and it's currently listed as "don't buy", since a new model is imminent.

I've been wondering since everyone had them discounted to $190 and now have all taken another $10 off to $180 whether we might be due for something at the May 7th event. Would seem ripe for it, but it sounds like it's iPads only.
