IMHO one of, if not the most underrated brands. Lightweight, good screens, solid reliability, even their keyboards I find to be surprisingly tactile for generally thin and light devices. Their prices can be high (not so much in this case) but generally more reasonable than Samsung…

But zero support. Don't expect much for firmware or driver updates from LG. I have about 20 Grams in my office. LG's attitude is like their phones were "uh, updates? Just buy a new one!".

They also made units with 9th gen CPU's after 2020 and can't run Windows 11, because they cheeped out on a TPM module... On a $1500 Laptop...

Great built units, but forget any support... For driver updates, I have to use the Intel Updater, and tell it that I'm okay with it overriding the LG "OEM" drivers...

The 15" Macbook pro retailed for $2399 in 2014, which is equivalent to $3200 today. Only more than 4x the cost of this laptop.

You're not even comparing apples and oranges. You're comparing apples and waygu steak

Got the $699 deal for the Acer Swift Edge 16 about a month ago, but the fan noise is kinda making me regret the purchase. How's noise on this? The 80Wh vs 53 should also be an improvement.

https://www.costco.com/Acer-Swift...35740.html

Obviously I don't expect the screen to be as good as the Acer since that 4K OLED is spectacular, but it also drains battery quite a bit. I don't care about the touchscreen AT ALL. Keyboard layout also looks a bit worse because the numpad makes everything else smaller and puts it off-center. Tough choice.
You can return the acer. This one has no fan noise. The OLED uses so much battery. That acer was a very good price.

Had a LG Gram 13 a few years ago and it was one of the lightest laptops I've ever owned. After a year of light use, the battery sensor started failing where it would shut off even when the battery was at 100% and then would not turn back on unless I plugged in for a few seconds. Happened infrequently enough that it didn't bother me back then. Two years in, the issue frequency increased that it basically made the laptop unreliable to carry anywhere with limited outlets.

If you switch laptops every 2-3 years, probably nothing to worry about. Tbh I probably just got a bad batch, but at the same time, one bad experience is enough for me.
I'm typing on my 2014 MacBook Pro which runs like a champ on the original battery. Crazy how good Apple products are and how bad LG products are.

There's a reason it is that light. It's magnesium alloy so for people use to high quality aluminum "build", it won't feel that way. You are gonna feel like it's plastic. My 13 inch gram had noticeable screen flex as well.

After 4 years of light to moderate use, the hinge cracked badly but still works. It wasn't even a 2 in 1.

they run different OS, and it's not like apple doesn't have problems.
I had a MacBook air and sony vaio both bought in 2010. Vaio still works with windows 7 and just running chrome remote desktop but MacBook air is super slow and cannot update the ios and thus is not usable anymore -> local school e-waste dump.

Decent battery or should I just give to and buy a mac specifically for the purpose of light productivity and maximizing battery life?

I know surface is close but the screen is too small for these purposes unfortunately

I don't understand why so many laptops have soldered ram. Is it just cheaper to manufacture?
