This isn't a new offering, but awareness is always a good thing. There are more classes available than are listed in the op - a total of 151. Here's a direct link to all of Harvard's free courses:

https://pll.harvard.edu/catalog/free?page=1

If you've ever heard of auditing a class - that's exactly what this is. You get the knowledge, but you don't take tests or get actual credit. It's like sitting in the classroom as an observer, but the advantage of it being online is that the courses are self-paced. You do have to pay, IF you want a certificate verifying that you took the class.

Many colleges and universities offer similar programs. Googling "free Harvard courses" brought up the link above. Substitute "Harvard" with the name of the school you're interested in to see if they offer a similar program.

I didn't realize you could learn power system engineering by watching a cactus 🌵. Such a genius idea!
Watching human flow an building design allowed me to create newer; more efficent methods of their design for me. It's not like it's all not laying out there already. Maybe it helps Ive done a lot of things an read a lot but not so much about some things I learn by just watching people an buildings. (tho maybe I'm just forgetting how much I've learned or worked with over the years). As far as power; you mean electricity? I probably did spend a few hours learning about that before having to rewire houses to support the amount of electricity I use. While my family teaches an does it for a living ; I learned what I did on my own.

Engineering is a pretty big word that encompasses a ton of stuff. I've done engineering work under someone who was working on multi national highways who went to college for geology an was just transferred to the engineering dept iirc. Took me under an hour. Works for the federal government now (or the state or city municipality in a area close; dont remember the specific words) An on the other hand think I know people with engineering degrees an more who decided to work at hardware stores. Both agree it's just a paper to show employers 🤷

It looks like the only requirement for these "Ivy League" courses is to cordon off part of your living space to create an occupied encampment in support of Palestine.

Will I become an insane liberal protestor with purple hair after completion of the course?

CS50 & David Malan are amazing courses. I definitely recommend. And it's always been free since they started.

You know what would be awesome? If they made education free all the time? The increased innovation, productivity, and efficiency would make up for the cost easily. Learn if you want or don't, but education should be a right, not a privilege.
You already get free education K-12 and then anything else you want to learn is free on YouTube. Why people are still so obsessed with a legacy boomer credential is beyond me. College was fun but ultimately a waste of time and money for most.

My oldest took intro to CS, high quality free course IMO, good for a high schooler to get going early.
Something like that would have helped me not bail on CS as a freshman with zero programming experience and just a desire for technology.

I took other programming classes later and realized "I actually can do this"

I am confused - why is this a "slick deal" then? These courses have always been free to audit/evaluate, right? As are courses on Coursera too. Am I missing something? And why is Slickdeals saying "while offer lasts"?

I think you have to pay for the "how to properly protest during finals week" course.

I just imagined it and realized we already see that happening without the people having neurolinks. 😞
Many people have built-in firewalls to their brain. See the comments.

You dont get a certificate I read
I took CS50p. If you complete the course, you get a free certificate. However, there is also a "verified" certificate that I got (iirc it was ~$130). There are also "professional certificates" which as far as I can tell are just bundles of verified certificates at a discount.

Lol. If you start adding up all the taxes we pay in the US, it's still a staggering amount. Except, we have relatively Little To Show for it. I'm not arguing with your point, I'm saying we pay too much tax here and we still get to foot The Majority of the bills for things like Healthcare. How's this system any better? They used to try to say it took forever to be able to see a doctor -you know- until it started taking forever to see one here.

All these systems are broken - Including Ours. But at least others aren't ala' cart thievery.
Not to mention that the US taxpayers foot the bills for many things in the countries that offer "free" things. I wish that when we pay our taxes we could select where we want OUR money to go.

Why are people talking about adding Harvard to their resume after taking these courses? Are they trying to not be hired? These days people with actual Harvard degrees avoid putting it on their resume and instead say they spent that time doing something less embarrassing like playing piano in a whorehouse.
