I have the 17 inch version with the RTX 2050 and can still play older games like Skyrim on max settings smoothly. The battery life is amazing and it's so lightweight. I can walk around the clinic all day with it.
Same here. Have the 17" with 32GB, 2TB, RTX2050. Amazing laptop. The 90Wh battery is a huge plus.

4050 requires more cooling, more cooling requires more weight. No longer an LG Gram.
FYI, the RTX 2050 version of the Gram 17 that I have has a second fan compared to the one that the regular Gram 17 comes with. This results in better cooling for the CPU as well. So Grams do take into account additional cooling requirements for discrete GPUs. I am sure they can handle a 4050 if they really needed to. Might add a little bit of weight. My Gram 17 is around 3.1lbs vs 2.98 for the regular Gram 17.

It doesn't though. The 4050 and 3050 have the same power consumption. The 4050 delivers more frames at the same TDP. It's simply more efficient (duh, it's newer gen).

Why would one get this over the $1,000 Lenovo Slim Pro 9i? 1lb heavier, but everything else is better.

This was available from eBay sold by Lenovo Outlet. Definitely more horsepower - in just about every way - but weighs almost two pounds more, uses a proprietary charger, and has significantly lower battery life. Also its mini-LED display is nice but it's not OLED.

I had an earlier generation LG Gram 16 (2-in-1) and while I loved the light weight, it was a quirky machine and I felt like it never quite lived up to its potential. That said, I'm tempted by this Gram Pro and if I end up returning the Slim 9i Pro, I'll probably get one of these.

I own the Lenovo Slim Pro 9i and I also own the LG Gram 17" (a slightly different model). The Lenovo feels 2x the weight (not including a very big and heavy power brick) and has a battery life of maybe 3 hours. Therefore, I use it as a desktop replacement. My Gram sits on my lap (as I type this) and travels with me for all-day use without a power brick.

A Lenovo deal (was, see edit below) found on Slickdeals. It is eBay and reconditioned. The Gram is Costco and new.

Don't get me wrong. I love my Lenovo. I own it for a different purpose. I also love my LG Gram.

EDIT: the Lenovo deal has now expired. It was a good deal when available. But if I could only have one, I would have the LG.

Is your LG Gram 17 one of the ones with the dGPU? I'm curious about real-world info on the gaming performance for those. Also curious about how much care needs to be taken to avoid OLED burn-in on this new Costco model.

I'm trying out the Slim 9i Pro 16 right now from that Lenovo Outlet deal and it's pretty much as advertised - great screen, great sound, lots of horsepower, but incredibly poor battery life - like if you aren't careful with your settings it might die on you in less than 3 hours. And the machine is so finicky about which chargers it will take - about half of the USB-C PD 65W or higher chargers in my house don't work. The LG Gram Pro might be more of a compromise in some respects but a lot easier to manage in others.

My LG is a slightly different model. It is the 17ZB90R-K.AAC7U1 and listed as a 400-nit display. It is not OLED and has a run-of-the-mill Intel Iris Xe GPU and Anti-Glare IPS Display. I do not game.

I've had it outdoors comparing it to the Lenovo and subjectively thought the screen of the LG was brighter even though the Lenovo is Mini-LED and 1200-nit. (I used Windows, display settings to manage Brightness. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?)

Part of the designed power management is to make the LG screen dynamically dim and brighten. One of my gripes for the LG is it tends to dim when on battery when I do not expect it to. I do not have this problem with AC power.

Frankly, I think the LG or the Lenovo are great for indoor but don't recommend either for outdoor use. The Lenovo has a better display, but it isn't as amazing as I hoped. I agree with your comment that the LG is easier to manage. This is part of why I use it so much. But I'm a business app user and not a gamer.

Thanks for your input. I didn't love the screen on my LG Gram 16 2-in-1 ... a huge amount of light bleed on the corners and then when I sent it to them for service they replaced it with a worse performing screen and formatted my hard drive. I was annoyed. But OLED is a different beast and it's tempting!

Seems awfully late in the game to be selling a laptop with a 30xx GPU, considering the 50xx GPUs are due to be released by year end.

Not sure what you are specifying here. The link to the Costco website lists different specs including an OLED screen. Just click on the original link.

I wonder if this can play COD at max spec if you turn it down to 1080P.
