It's not the speed that's thrilling. It's the weaving in and out of traffic (and there are tooooons of traffic), going up reeeeally close to larger vehicles like buses and big trucks, and occasionally going in the opposite side of the road because lane dividers are just there for show. And as others mentioned, the extremely bumpy ride. The cherry on top is all the exhaust from the tuk tuk (and other cars on the road because it doesn't have any doors) you're breathing in.

Been in dozens of tuk tuks in Bangkok and elsewhere. That's being a bit overdramatic in your recounting there 😂. Especially in Bangkok, they rarely get to drive in anything other than bumper to bumper traffic. The worst threat to your health will be car and scooter exhaust. Try riding on a motorcycle taxi at midnight. That's truly harrowing.

Dude, these tuk-tuks are hilarious but so space efficient when vehicles aren't permitted. Yes, you could just buy a side-by-side but what's the fun in those? This will sharpen my tuk-tuk skills. 😊
