Finally! Amsterdam just reached urination equality after a multi-year battle and thousands turned on in protests.
One Geerte Piening, 23, was peeing in the street after a night at the bar with friends, she was caught by police and fined €140 (later reduced to €90) since the judge said she must have used a men's urinal. Amsterdam has 35 public urinals for men and three public toilets for women.
The protest initially was planned at her original place of peeing but was canceled after too many people wanted to attend. Thousands across the Netherlands took to the streets in support and authorities gave up.
Amsterdam recently announced that 4 million Euro was allocated for the installation of "wheelchair-accessible" public urinals. Power to the people!
