I'm not saying they're a fashion statement, but the big chonky cush is pretty nice 20+ miles in.

I'm not a fan of them either, but it's a completely different category. Lifestyle versus running shoes.

I don't understand the appeal of Hokas, they're so ugly. For a hundred bucks I'll hold out for some Ultrab00sts (modded the word to avoid triggering deal alerts for my adidas homies)

The alright colors are usually not on sale, I dipped dyed a pair once they came out alright and didn't bleed through.

Agreed. I'd buy more of them if they had decent colors. I don't run triathlons, so I don't need flashy colors. I own one pair, and they're very comfy.

I know they're ugly, but I've had more than a few people tell me they are the most comfortable shoes they have ever purchased, and that nothing comes close or that they have tried 10 other pairs that don't compare to Hoka's. Now has me curious. I've never found a "perfect" pair of shoes yet. They all eventually hurt my feet.

I had a pair of Hokas that I bought after meticulous research and assistance from one of those boutique running shoe stores. Hated them after 30 minutes every time I wore them. Just a weird sole bend to them.

I can deal with the ugly, but maybe I need to try on more styles. I was in Nordstrom Rack and I tried some on and I didn't like them. But those had the carbon plate in them. That day I was wearing Puma Forever Runs. I see a few in Ross stores as well. I think I like the softer ride more. Every Hoka I've tried on felt very stiff. But my use for them would be more walking than running. My knees are shot from decades of playground basketball so I need shoes that soften the impact of running and walking.
Someone mentioned Brooks and I love those for walking and being on my feet for extended periods of time.

exactly, people say they "run", but they don't actually "run", lol
they go on the treadmill to warmup before they lift weights and think that is "running", lol.
There opinions would be more valid if they had experience using hokas in a marathon.

I just got back from my daily morning half marathon. Hoka's are easily my least favorite running shoe in my rotation.

You want to feel what cushioning feels like put on a pair of NB Fresh Foam More v4's. Also I have tempo shoes more comfortable than any pair of hokas. Hoka's don't last, they aren't special comfort wise, and their designs are awful. They are shoes built around hype and influencers. Everyone is just extremely gullible.

This is exactly the same for me. Most comfortable shoes I've ever tried.
