You open the window and close it on the AC unit. It also has a platform it rests on

I drilled no holes and the thing can't go anywhere. It's easier than any other AC I've used and I have zero fears of dropping it out the window

Honestly confused why anyone thinks this is difficult to install especially compared to conventional styles. And especially considering how much smaller and lighter this type is

When are they coming out with a U-shaped AC with heat pump?

opposite experience. ours cooled better than anything we had prior. and we left it installed for 2 winters now. living in the northeast.. the u shape version makes that possible.

not sure what would make it a pain to uninstall though. the install for us was 10x easier than a traditional ac since it has a built in stand.

Solid unit, quiet, efficient and cold. Instead of spending $8k on repairing my central unit I bought 3 of these.

Year over year my electricity bills were down 100-150kwh a month in the summer.

The installation is a little tricky but take care to do a good job to make it easier for the next year.

I have done it with an LG window AC. No problems after years of use. It is a typical window AC unit though, not U-shaped.
Oh perfect, thanks.

I bought this last year and spent a good amount of time installing. It only lasted 3 months only using it at night. Lots of negative reviews stating very similar lifespan of 3-6 months. IMO stay away from this brand AC. Costco was great as always about returning, but it was still wasted time and effort to install / uninstall this thing.

I recommend waiting on the GE Profile.. ...what ever you do...Do not buy the two in one heat and AC...man that is horrible
Midea is the OEM for many manufacturers… they make solid hardware.

On your comment about heat/AC, I assume you're talking about a heat pump? I don't have experience with a window unit with a heat pump, but I have split units with heat pumps and they're fantastic… been working for years now, in less than optimal conditions (pig houses), through NY summers and winters.

I bought this in 2022 and a moldy odor started coming out of it several months ago. I looked online and this specific model seems to have that issue. My AC unit is indeed at an angle where the water trips out. This unit doesnt really have a pan like the old window units. I opened up the unit and did clean everywhere but the moldy odor still existed every time I turned on the AC. Fortunately I was able to return it 2 weeks ago at costco.

If they do, it would be $1500
Another company i've never heard of has them for about $700... They sell them on Amazon, only company I know of. But Midea has heat pump units, just not u-shaped. They are about $380.

I have 2 of the 12k and 2 10k or 8k ones in bedrooms. We love them! They are so quiet and I love how easy it is to setup schedules using Alexa or their own SmartHome app. I think I paid more... but I ain't mad, we love em.

Great price. Got 4 back in 2021 to put in my rental, so far no complaints from tenants.

This is what I'm waiting for too! Any idea if they're actually making one?
Midea does have a 12000 BTu heatpump window unit but its not u-shaped. It's $429 on Amazon. A company called Soleus Air has a U-shaped unit with a heatpump but its $700....

I'm confused. These are heat pumps. Do you mean a reversible heat pump?

Guess my windows/insulation just sucks. I tried until early December and I couldn't take the coldness coming thru the bottom anymore. But even if I could leave it, it just didn't cool as well as old school as anyway. Maybe I got a faulty one. I do like that the regular style 12k inverter one is smaller and lighter than the u shaped one though. Bought it end of April but still haven't needed it since the hot weather is never going to stick around
Yeah must be faulty. We had our downstairs hvac unit leak out all the freon and just put 2 12000 and 2 8000 and it cooled very well for the whole summer and power bill was much cheaper. We scheduled to cool offices during day and living room/kitchen after 5pm until we saved up for a new unit and when install fee demand went away.

Honestly we could have kept running off of these alone as they make hardly any noise, good for office use. It worked so well we put another 12000 upstairs to keep a large bedroom colder and upped the main upstairs hvac temperature saving us more $.

Very impressed with these inverter units.

bought one of these last year. DIdn't cool that good compared to regular ac's. plus installing/removing is a pain ( have to remove because I'm in the northeast. Luckily I got refunded by manufacturer. This year I'm trying the same AC but not U shaped to see if it will make a difference.
Same here. It's a nice unit, but it wasn't cooling that great. It's just barely decent. I ended up leaving it in all year (NY) but probably wasn't the best idea.

They took it back though you bought 2 years ago? Surprised. Still under warranty?

Mine started rusting in just 1 year. I have it slightly angled as they recommended. Just FYI.
