Edit: I've personally traded in several devices (phones and watch) in Mountain View. In all instances they physically took the device and gave me credit instantly. I can't personally vouch for the other stores.

What was the process like?
Do they make you wipe it in front of them? Or do they just check if the device turns on? I have a bare 6th gen that I use for work Zoom calls only and forgot the damn login (so it's usable as-is but likely can't be reset successfully). I don't need it anymore and it would be perfect for this promo.
