Can we remember that this is a 512GB model, and not the base 128? That's a big deal in cost/value consideration.

I use Google Workspace with Google Voice on my Motorola Edge 30 Fusion. The Google Voice app works fine, but Google Voice and Android Auto don't work well together. Any reason to think that if I used a Google Pixel I would have better luck?

I'm looking for a solid deal on an unlocked new phone with a great camera to take photos of my kids sports. So with this Pixel 7 Pro, I like the storage factor here and the screen size.

I'm coming from a Galaxy S20 FE, so anything new will seem snappy to me and the pics will look much better. I'm really thinking about jumping on this deal. Can anyone talk me out of this deal with some decent logic? Thanks for any help.

No. Don't listen to the naysayers. This is a solid deal for a great phone. I bought this for my dad's wife last year. Camera is awesome and it has decent battery life.

Objectively, this is a good deal and perfect for your use case.

For context, I just got an 8 pro and came from a galaxy S20+, and the "newness" of the phone is apparent. Not that my old phone was slow, but 4 years of improvements shows. My friend has the 7 pro and it's not as fast but clearly will be snappier than your FE.

Google camera I'm just getting into. It's pretty amazing. So far though I seem to get amazing pics or crap ones. Nothing in between. Its just a focus thing etc on my part. I haven't done video yet, but the options look good stabilization and subject following options.

The only knock would be that there have indeed been "lots of problems" with the 7 and 8 generations of pixel. Said friend had to turn his phone in to get a new one...but that's all hit and miss.

I personally think Pixels tend to be buggy because Google focuses on specific features rather than the OS as a whole. That's really what I think the biggest con is here. I only got mine so I could install an alternate OS, but you might be fine out of the box.

Personally, I'd say this is a good deal for you given your needs, just consider if you would like the rest of the phone experience first.

Thanks for your help. As far as the phone bugs, it does concern me that this phone made it into the Woot selling platform for some reason.

What would be an equally good price for the 128GB model? Any current deals or good deals in the past to use as a reference?
I'd like to buy Pixel Pro 7 for the camera, but am not looking forward to overpaying for the storage.

Actually, it appears the phone doesn't offer external storage, so 256GB model would be preferred.

This is the 7 Pro. I just sold mine after owning for 6 months or so. What issues are you referring to?
Constant modem issues, thermal issues, and overall bad performance for a 500$ phone, even worse for the 900$ it launched for. I have not encountered this issues firsthand(as I dont own a pixel) but online, in forums and in tech news there is a strong opinion that the tensor chip is terrible

Still using S20 FE myself, the last of the great FE model that delivered higher end specs you wanted without compromising on other things including microSD slot. And it still works great today but security updates will end later this year, that's the real reason to upgrade. You'll have 3 yrs left on Pixel 7 Pro.

I would avoid the 8a as it is a Pixel 8 with cut down features. Worse cameras, no reverse wireless charging. They made the phone bigger by adding a 1mm bigger bezel around the phone, while making the screen smaller from 6.2" to 6.1" and making the battery smaller from 4575 mAh to 4492 mAh.

A refurbished great condition Pixel 8 can be had on eBay for $400.

I would avoid anything under the Pixel 8 series unless you intend to flash a custom rom as the 7 series stop receiving Android version upgrades after next year. The Pixel 8 series receive 7 years of updates and have Gemini Nano which is on device AI. Other Pixels process AI using Google servers. The 8 series also support display out over USB C to an external monitor.

I got my brand new Pixel 7 Pro for $99 from a slick deal. Although, it is locked to Mint Mobile for 12 months. The phone has been amazing and I love the camera. The deal was too good to pass up. $500 seems high to me but the extra storage could be useful to some.

I've never experienced any of these issues on a launch day Pixel 7 and now a launch 8 pro. Paid Samsung and Apple reviews are paid 🤡
