The new one has all the same issues besides the mic. It's by far the worst phone I've ever owned. I'm not sure if it would be worth it at even half this price. Really the only thing going for it is the camera.

An important factor would be the 512 gb size. If you NEED the space, then you need the space. For me, I try to use as LITTLE space as possible in general making sure that Photos and data are backed up to the cloud and that way I don't risk losing 512 GB worth of stuff if it breaks.
The Pro version has more RAM (12 vs 8) and better cameras.
The general consensus is that the jump from the Pixel 6 to 7 was a relatively small one whereas 7 to 8 is a bigger leap with 3rd gen Tensor chip. Also, expect a Pixel 9 to be announced in October or so which would then make your phone 2 generations old. Google has also often done $200-$250 off their Pixel line so take that into consideration.
Overall, for the right person (maybe someone looking for a long term device that takes huge RAW videos) it's probably a fantastic deal. For others, finding a deal on a Pixel 8 or waiting till the 9 is announced might make more sense.
Love this phone by the way, there is nothing I don't like, or it can't do that I'm aware of. Except sometimes the Chrome browser doesn't want to load things, so I switched to Bing, who pays me to search anyway
