One manufacturer has a model specifically for the model Y. They include little blocks that stay on the ridge of the subtrunk edge to keep the subtrunk platform raised on all sides for airflow. Personally I would just make a small spacer to add to the sides of the subtrunk edge

Hi There, Thank you for contacting Newair. I am sorry to inform you the NPR048GA00 is not in stock and we do not have an ETA. Best Regards, Customer Care
Absolutely! I've totally used my 48qt to store ice cream and snacks by my recliner when I first got it. "for testing purposes"
Currently that same fridge/freezer is in the van connected to the ecoflow and has been for the last 3400 miles of the road trip we're wrapping up.
Would recommend for that exact dual use case.
edit: NVM, irrelevant because the fridge supports 12V/24V
Does not mean it supports 16v

Really depends on specific use cases. I have a different electric compressor portable fridge that I always keep in the trunk but only power it on when I have leftovers or buy milk or popsicles on a whim, which then allows me to stay out longer and not have to go straight home immediately.
For camping use, I can see a big pack of ice working just as well as these but you have to consider how much extra space the ice would take up in a normal cooler.
It looks identical to the BougeRV model I bought last year. Same company??

But as you stay out longer, if you are making stops, you'd have to leave your car running in order to keep it cold. That's my problem with these things.

Certain cars keep the lighter outlet on even with the car off. My cooler has a low voltage detector to auto stop itself from sucking the battery to dead.
I actually bring a Bluetti EB3A to power the fridge as an alternative to using up the car's 12v.
The storage compartment is smaller than you think. These are a little deceptive and usually take the outer dimensions as the size. The insulation makes this kind of thick.
I've also learned the types with 2 compartments so you can have a fridge and freezer at the same time really bite into that storage space. Personally I like a single compartment and choose a fridge OR freezer.
What size / type battery?

I'd recommend something else like this with a solar pannel connected.
