Canon L series blows the doors off most third party lenses. There are a couple of exceptions in the Sigma Art series and I'm sure others can share a handful more that may be close. It is a cost to quality comparison that every photographer has to answer for themselves, but this is one of the Canon trinity lenses that most pros say are "required kit". This one in particular has incredible sharpness and super fast, tack sharp focus.
