1.96¢/g Protein - MyProtein Casein [myprotein.com]Price: $37.50 for 5.5 lbs.Unknown % of Protein is Leucine76.7% of mass is Protein83.6% of calories are Protein

Under 2 cents per gram protein is a very good price for any animal-based protein, doubly so for casein which tends to be more expensive than whey. Leucine content is unpublished, but being it's Casein, it's probably somewhere around 8% - not as high in leucine as whey.

There was a pop up that offered an additional 10% and free shipping if you sign up for text and email updates. That worked for me, and they sent me a personalized code pretty quick that took off the shipping.

What are the pro/cons of Casein vs. Whey? I normally buy Whey isolate but at this price, I am considering jumping on this deal.

instead of typing all that out on here, you could've typed it into google or bing, and gotten an answer near instantly:
Between whey and casein, whey is the "faster" protein supplement because its amino acids are absorbed quickly by your body. While casein is the "slower" supplement — since it's digested more slowly — both proteins can help your muscles grow when you work out. That's because they re-form fatigued muscles after exercise.Jul 11, 2023 Workout Supplements: Whey vs. Casein Protein - WebMD [google.com]

I wanted the TLDR not a sarcastic comment. The simple answer I found was digestion and amino acid absorption into the bloodstream. The two digest very different but their benefits are similar in the end.

Just to add alternative for slow release I've just added cottage cheese to my diet. That can be had at around 0.03-4/gram of protein. No need for powder.
I am a firm believer that real food is usually a better choice than supplements, if both can do the same job.

Normally either before or after your workout you want whey. Casein is technically usable at any other time.... but especially your disks before bed so your body has protein to snack on all night... arguably bro science but dwygd

The thing is supplements are easy and I am a busy (let's be honest lazy) human being. If I don't do a protein bar/shake, I'm probably going to be eating a bag of chips instead.

I didn't mean for that to sound like supplements are bad.

That's exactly what supplements are for. When food is too inconvenient an option, or can't provide the nutrients you want for whatever reason.

To maximize gainz, you should infuse protein every 3-4 hours or so. Cooking 5 meals a day is not realistic for most of us, so supplements. That said, food is still the better option, if less convenient.

Another example is Creatine. There is no good way to get 5g of Creatine a day using food.
You'd have to eat about 2lb of undercooked meat with the drippings. Not a good idea - use the supplement.

Recipes that you use or see on YouTube that call for protein, when you bake you want the casein to give it a creamy texture vs the whey chalky texture 👍

Some really good recipes with casein out there.
Finally I get why my breakfast brownies have been so chalky the last few months! The first few times I made them I happened to get a deal on casein, which I eventually replaced with whey when I ran out.
