A metal pizza peel is often recommended for retrieving a pizza because it is thin.

A wood or composite pizza peel is usually recommended for launching pizzas into the oven, because dough sticks far less than it does to metal. When people use metal ones for launching, they usually like perforated ones for less surface area sticking to the dough.
Honestly, for any home cook making pizza in the oven, get a big roll of parchment paper and put that on the pizza peel and the pizza on the paper.

Paper won't stick, and I normally remove halfway through cooking.

Makes putting pizza in the oven MUUUUCH easier.

I use a pizza steel at home
Parchment paper is usually recommended for a maximum temp of about 450 degrees while a baking steel is recommended to go to 500 or whatever max the oven will go to.

I know when I do parchment paper at 450, it browns significantly.

I had a pizza stone once. I never figured out how to use it without the dough sticking so I trashed it. I love my peel though. Makes getting pizzas out so much smoother.

You have to pre-heat it at least 500 degrees for about 30 minutes, and transfer pizza onto it without taking it out of oven.

Agree, you'll only be making 12" pies with this which are basically pizzas for one. The average home oven can fit a 18" stone no problem which is a good size for a 16" pie. Also for beginners, pizza screens are a lot easier to work with and turn out fantastic NYC/American style pizzas in a home oven.

I own a couple of these that I use on my pellet smoker and in the oven. Pizza cutter is useless but the stone and the pizza peel are a good quality and size. They get the job done and at this price they are a steal.

I use a stone like this on my BBQ grill so I don't have to heat the house up anymore in the summer. Does a good job of making the crust crisp. The stone goes back into storage in the winter. Can't believe how much the price of electricity has gone up. Almost triple in price from years ago.

Welp, this explains America's weight problem LOL. Nothing compact about our oven and racks are 14" deep.

God I wish somebody explained that to me when I first got into pizza making. It makes a HUGE difference using a bamboo pizza peel to launch it into the oven and I don't risk having the pizza fold into it self.

This is a great starter kit, but honestly, if anyone wants to splurge a bit lot more you should definitely get a pizza steel. It helps develop a much nicer looking and better texture crust.
