Good deal for this, though I would advise people to use it only for herbs, or for early plantings.

The relatively high nitrogen content is great for encouraging leaf growth. With herbs, the leaf is what you're eating. With fruit like tomatoes or other flowering plants, at this point in the season you want to encourage flowers and healthy yields -- not more leaves.

what's good for tomatoes at this point in the year? I have lots of tomatoes on the vine, but they are not getting as big as I'd like

You can get fertilizer from Home Depot specifically for acidic plants like tomatoes. I'm assuming they're not getting big or red? Gotta also play around with your watering they don't like too much water but still you have to water

It's also early in the planting season your tomatoes are doing fine they'll ripen eventually

My patio garden already gets decimated by insects to the point where my mint doesn't even grow cause it has no leaves

I had this issue with spider mites on my basil and mint. Neem oil, for me, didn't get rid of them, from what I learned its mostly prevenitive. What took care of them almost overnight was spraying rubbing alcohol on the plants on the soil till moist. Remember it will chemically burn the plants, but it will destroy almost all bugs. My plants recovered and started thriving the next week. Now, I spray them with neem oil regularly and haven't seen them return.

You could also try a solution of like 1:30 Dawn dish soap and water. It will suffocate most bugs and is basically harmless to plants. Test in a small area if you're worried.

Thanks, will try this. The weird thing is everytime I go out to check on my plants, I don't see any bugs. Just leaves disappear, often overnight. Perhaps it's some larger like a snail or something?
