That aside, Mac hardware with Apple silicon is great. The problem is software support. You can expect about 3 1/2 years of remaining support for the 2020 M1 laptops. After that, you won't have any macOS security updates; or you can hope that Asahi Linux is a viable option at that point.
I also think the 8GB/256GB config in 2024 is questionable, but I don't want to continue that flame war.
Scratch n' dent -- which for Amazon, that's saying something. Their refurbished is "did it power on briefly?" + "wipe it down with a rag". So if it's considered S&D, it might've been run over by a supermassive stone quarry dump truck after being launched into space by that Elon Musk fella.
What I'm saying is, expect something absolutely beat up.
No warranty mentioned, no charger mentioned.
I mean, you can always roll the dice -- but I'd suggest putting that $550 aside for a newer, cleaner, less beat up machine. You'd probably get a better value nearly anywhere else.
Not a bad deal if these are in good shape. Better deal than the last few air deals I've seen.
I think the M1 MacBook Air last week was a far better deal. It was $526, but it was for a 512GB SKU. The people in the comments doubted that fact because the model numbers didn't match, but sure enough, it arrived as a 512GB M1 Air with 19 cycles on the battery and just a tiny nick in the rear of the chassis.
It came with a generic 60-watt charger and cable -- not the OEM version. But nobody give a snot about that.
