why is that? any idea? thats really odd for a machine to behave like that.
These people install a bunch of junk and things that slow down the laptop and then blame the laptop. If you just have some common sense the performance doesn't suddenly degrade out of thin air.
Will the 8gb RAM suffice heavy web browsing? Like say equivalent to 16gb in chrome OS machine with 12th Intel i5?
The answer is always "it depends".
But I will say a heavy ad page (like yahoo) will start to impact chrome once you hit about ~30 tabs. I had to switch my dad to a 16gb which solved all his chrome performance issues (he uses about 45 tabs).
Bought one of these new for my spouse as part of a larger effort to move away from the google ecosystem. This replaced a chromebook with overheating issues. It does great for internet browsing if you use safari. If you don't want to do that, it becomes a bit tougher to get by on the limited RAM.

Personally i haven't had any issues, multiple windows tabs and battery still lasts 2-3 days , i've never tried chrome OS to provide a comparison though.
Bought it at this price 2 years ago from Amazon. For those who like to complain about 8GB, it is more than enough for many tasks and then some. 99% of users will be fine. For the 1% needing video or audio production, stop being cheap and buy a Pro. You give this great value machine a bad rep.
Why do you guys on here always act like audio production is intensive? I use Cubase and don't see high CPU usage. Batch photo editing is a more relevant task lol.
Gah... $540 is a great price, but Woot can be dodgy, so why not spend another $159 and get new Walmart model with warranty, but then spend another $150 and get M2 model, and then it's $850.. so why not spend $200 to upgrade the SSD, And then it's $1050, which is a lot to spend on laptop with 8gb, so maybe spend another $220 to get the 16gb version and really, you're not actually doing Photoshop filters on 2gig files or transcoding 4K movies, or running LLMS, like everyone else on Slickdeals, and the M4 is around the corner and your old I7 MBP isn't dead yet and ...
Do you own a macbook air or just want to poop on Apple? Based on your response, I don't think you know what you're talking about much... and no, I don't love Apple... mostly because everything became an "adapter" and costs extra money but for security and reliability, it is my go to (I used to build pcs, fyi).
I own a Macbook Air and hate it precisely due to 8GB (and the OS, but that's beside the point). Totally fine with adapters, as they were a necessity for USB-C and wireless audio adoption. I love iPhones and prefer them slightly over Androids.
Based on your response, I know more about computers than you ever will, so I'm unsure why you think I don't know what I'm talking about.
So not an Apple hater whatsoever. A hit and a miss on both your guesses.
