The service is fine if it's working, but if something goes wrong you're gonna have a bad time getting it resolved. Only port in if you're okay risking losing your phone number, or are okay wasting 10+ hours getting it back if it happens.
I recently signed up in February 2024 for their regular plan at $20. And wow, you can barely websurf or Reddit with the throttled and deprioritized speeds. Streaming videos is painful with lots of buffering. Constantly have 4G service and not 5GLTE with Tellos or GoogleFi
But I rarely venture out and I'm usually at home with Wifi so I don't notice. Call quality leaves lots to be desired, lots of static sometimes. Other person can't hear me. and I get $5 off my fios bill and unlimited talk, text, and data. But the service isn't great and the customer service is literally non existent. Outsourced to some other country.

and you have to lock in for a year. THANKS BUT NO.
I would consider it if they had decent internet, but i could never get more than 40mbps when i was using them. meanwhile Metrobytmobile gives me about 400mbps and googlefi about 500mps.
also, visible's connection is supper unreliable, i never knew if i was going to have an internet signal when i needed it.
Question - Is US Mobile (probably going with their standard annual plan for $276 a line) better than Visible when it comes to a) port experience b) customer service c) bandwidth throttling when network is congested d) overall call quality and e) network coverage.

You get to choose between T-Mobile or Verizon network (AT&T on the way) and they can internally port you between them without a plan change if you want to switch. Can't speak to port experience, but customer service has been good and they're also extremely responsive on their Reddit sub (their CEO posts regularly too). Data has been OK, but they're deprioritized similarly to other MVNOs so you may see issues in heavily congested areas. Their "unlimited" plans get throttled down to something like 1mbps after the high speed data allotment which is something to be aware of.

This is as good as it gets when it comes to reliability.
I decided to port my landline (actually VoIP) number to Visible. This is a little bit more complicated than mobile to mobile, so the carrier has to do it right. Ooma released the number right away and it was transferred to Verizon, but Visible didn't provision it in their system.
Their customer support is insane, as it has no provision for maintaining progress on a ticket. Every chat in must start from the beginning. I engaged with them 17 times over three weeks and every call was the same. Half an hour to arrive at the same place as before, only to be told they guarantee it would be done in the next 24 hours. They blamed Ooma, of course, but I pointed out that when you called the number, it announced that it was on Verizon's network. I said "just call it!". They said they had no facilities for placing a phone call. Every chat was torturing with most of waiting for them to type was to have a bot say "We are very sorry you are having this problem," .. wait 5 minutes ... "I will do the needful to get it resolved", ... wait 5 minutes .. "Your satisfaction is our priority", etc.
