As a PS5 owner and avid rocket player, I had two PS5 controllers go down with it in the first year lol. Also own a switch. Pro controller has been nice, joycons have been hot garbage. for whatever reason, this isn't just a Microsoft problem. all the major console brands have stick drift issues.

it's pretty sad when the funky mad catz controllers from 20 years ago are more durable than modern day controllers

New controller got stick drift after 2 months use.

Never had this issue from Gamecube, PS2, PS3, Ps4 Xbox 360. They don't build them like they use to

One of the nicest feeling controllers I've used, but unfortunately Windows is absolute dogwater at connecting with this. Even the official dongle doesn't work for me

Just half a month until the announcement of the new xbox with new controller. They are clearing old stock at this point.
People have said this since January

Both my partner and I have put Thousands of hours into our controllers (To the point where the analog sticks wear down to the plastic) and neither of us have Ever experienced "Stick Drift". There's a very specific style of player that runs into this issue, and it's certainly not everyone.
Glad to hear you got a good batch.

Got a ps5 remote for pc gaming and stick drift after 2 months. Got a xbox elite remote and the RB button is dead after 6 months. I'm so tired of these cheaply built remotes...or am I just that unlucky?

can anyone recommend a good remote?

Agree. These are the Clowns who get pissed at losing and abuse them. Plus most are just parroting what they've heard. Yeah it's all been said before, db's.

No, people have been saying it since last September when the giant leak happened that showed the new controller and specifically said that they were planning on announcing it around now.

My controller got stick drift with light use. Won't buy another one. Meanwhile my PS4 controller is still going strong over a decade later

Despite reports to the contrary from other users in this very thread, I've had great results with both DualShock 4 and DualSense (PS5) controllers, to the point it's going to be hard for me to move past DS4Windows (a dope little piece of software that makes mapping/profiles mostly a breeze). Sounds like I may have gotten decent RNG tho, so bear that in mind.

The new 8bitdo Pro 2 (and other models) have Hall Effect sticks that *should* help mitigate the risk of drift, and I will likely pick one up on sale but otherwise can't give real feedback other than to say I feel slightly better taking my chances with them over GameSir and the other 3rd parties at this time. YMMV ofc.

DB?

That's rich.

Look beyond SD - I'm not even a conslow gamer but even I know, anecdotally, the "new" Xbox controllers are doggdoo with far too many ppl catching drift after the first year (the old 360 sticks were mostly built like tanks based on majority account and my own personal exp).

Insinuating everyone who experiences problems with these is a sweaty CoDling furiously mouth-breathing out of their neckbeard is an absolute DB take.

Back to the topic at hand, tempting price but a gamble imo - if possible wait for Hall Effects to become a bit more ubiquitous unless you're just in desperate need RIGHT NOW.

Full disclosure: I've personally never had a controller get stick drift. But do you really think the ppl who got f'd over by sh*tty controllers really want to hear about my good fortune?

Good price but I'm going to stick with Walmart and eBay where multi-year warranties are fairly cheaply added on even if the base price is a couple dollars more (last one from Walmart was a red one for $43 including two year extended warranty, eBay was a two pack of electric volt with 3 yr warranty for $65 shipped from Microsoft's eBay account last year.)

Also for the record yes I do get stick drift or non-responsive or just flat out broken stuff eventually. (The OG Xbox controller is the only controller I've had in the post 2000 world that did not experience issues 🤷)

Yeah if you get an xbox controller that doesnt eventually stick drift, you are very lucky. Currently I'm 0-2 for xbox controllers (old and new versions, they both eventually got stick drift, the first one took over a year and my newer one took only a few months before it started drifting)

All this talk about stick drift, the thing that kills me is joystick replacements aren't that hard but it's hard to get a controller at a price that is economical to repair. I bought like 10 PS5 joysticks to repair PS5 controllers for full desoldering and replacing. Unfortunately all but one potentiometer was fixed by isopropyl alcohol on a cue tip to the inside of the potentiometer. And now I just have a bunch of joysticks and no controllers to fix. And 4 working controllers I rotate around. I'd love to receive all these broken controllers people are talking about but it seems they sell like $20-$30. I'm not exactly into buying, fixing, warranting my work, selling, and shipping for at most $5 to $10 of profit.
