Previously I also did a lot of Metro and Tracfone deals to give to friends and family.

That said I have been burnt enough times and learnt the hard way to stay away from them. At least with Metro the system rejects orders beforehand. With Tracfone the issues happen after you get the phone…if something goes wrong in activation the customer service outrigjt lies and wastes your time .
I saw quite a few comments on "unlocked automatically after 60 days"
That was NOT my case a few months ago, I needed to talk to CSR for unlocking.
I had this phone for about 5 months. The battery sucks, the SOT was about 4 hours on a full charge, and AccuBattery estimated it even lower. The phone heated a lot. Both issues should be caused by Samsung's in house 1380 chipset (fabricated by Samsung as well). I had a OnePlus Nord 20 at the same price range that lasted about 11- 12 hours SOT on a full charge without heating issues.

The camera is good but not splendid. The screen looks good but has lagged touch register/none-register issue. Overall this phone is buggy and not worth the MSRP of $699. $100 seems like a fair price if you don't have other choice.

I guess this deal wont work since this is for new customers only. Verizon is smarter now by requiring to sign up with DL lol
New to Verizon only or new to total only?

I hate slickdeals. I have 7 phones lying around from the various Total and Metro deals. Why do I buy them? I don't know. Why is it so addictive? I don't know.

I guess those 7 are getting another new friend.

Tips/Problems on this deal (I just tried to buy it and failed).

#1: You can sign up for texts and use coupon code WELCOME15 for 15% off the phone.
#2: If you select "Great Price", then hang out with the tab open and don't do anything for a few minutes like you are thinking about it, you will be offered a code for free shipping in a popup dialog. I found this out because I was having issues.
#3: A coupon site says code GMGP-7BFB will get you $50 savings on next month service. Haven't tried it, may not work, or may be useful for second month service.
#4: There are sites that can give you a cash rebate on purchase from Total by Verizon. I cannot specifically link or name them according to SD rules.

My problem:
To port the number, I have to provide my number to port. The Total website is then supposed to send a text validation code. I never got the validation code. I attempted to use chat and they couldn't resolve it, and offered to let me buy over the phone, which I declined to do, afraid I'd lose my CB and coupon code discounts. My number is with Mint Mobile.

They said it may have to do with a system upgrade, so I'll try again tomorrow.

It could be that GV numbers are ineligible (mine is a Mint number), or it could indeed be a systems issue where you can try again tomorrow...

However, if your number wasn't eligible, a good system would at least send you a message saying why, not just ghost you.

WELCOME15 takes $42 off the phone, but removes the $230 discount. Was free shipping at checkout for me. That code from coupon sites is a referral code for the rewards which gives you 5000 points, tho you have to wait 2 months for them to be available.

My AT&T number worked fine for verification, tho you don't port in the number yet. You start the port in process once you have the phone and activate it. There is a third party id verification process you have to do to get the $230 discount and requires you to take pictures of your id and provide a picture of your face.

Yesterday I had the same problems with receiving the verification code. One number is with Metro (T-mo) and one number is with Qlink (T-mo), which both should qualify. At first I thought it was a problem with Total system, but then I tried a number with Freedompop GSMT (T-mo) and got the code. So I don't know what to make of it.

Like you said, if a number does not qualify, then Total should clearly say that it's ineligible instead ghosting you.

If you have Chase Freedom or US Bank Cash+ credit card, check for 15% back (up to $15) offer for Total purchase. Expires on 6/5/24.

I don't know about using a different number for actual porting. Two weeks ago I ported a FP GSMT number to Total for an iPhone11. Will do another FP GSMT-to-Total today when UPS delivers the phone.

Hey
Trying to wing this for a friend outside the US.
How do I go about obtaining a burner number for him to transfer in?

Do I have to pay for service and what is the unlock procedure like?

Thanks
