Previously I also did a lot of Metro and Tracfone deals to give to friends and family.

That said I have been burnt enough times and learnt the hard way to stay away from them. At least with Metro the system rejects orders beforehand. With Tracfone the issues happen after you get the phone…if something goes wrong in activation the customer service outrigjt lies and wastes your time .

I saw quite a few comments on "unlocked automatically after 60 days"
That was NOT my case a few months ago, I needed to talk to CSR for unlocking.

I had this phone for about 5 months. The battery sucks, the SOT was about 4 hours on a full charge, and AccuBattery estimated it even lower. The phone heated a lot. Both issues should be caused by Samsung's in house 1380 chipset (fabricated by Samsung as well). I had a OnePlus Nord 20 at the same price range that lasted about 11- 12 hours SOT on a full charge without heating issues.

The camera is good but not splendid. The screen looks good but has lagged touch register/none-register issue. Overall this phone is buggy and not worth the MSRP of $699. $100 seems like a fair price if you don't have other choice.

If you place your Total order from a computer, when it gets to the ID Verification step it'll display a QR code and a box to enter a cell phone number. You can scan the QR code with your phone or enter your cell phone number. Either way will get a link sent to your phone. Click on that link and it'll ask you to take pictures of your ID/Driver License, then ask you to take a selfie. After it's done matching your face with your ID card, it'll tell you to go back to the computer to complete ordering.
Wow that is like opening bank account...

Thanks but I will pass unless I am in total need but metro deals work for me (as of now).

wonder how it compares to A15? i have an A15 as a spare phone. but the OS is also not smooth. a bit annoying.
In Samsung model-naming scheme, the S models are the top level, and the A models are lower. The two digits number denote its "rank" and model year. So:
- A5x is at a higher rank than A3x, A1x, A0x...
- A54 is a newer model of A53, A52, A51...
In the same model year, an A5 is much better than an A3; but due to improvements sometimes a later A3 can have equal performance to an older A5, one example is the A35 has same performance as the A54. The best way to compare performance is to look up their benchmarch scores and specs at www.gsmarena.com [gsmarena.com] .

As an A54 5G user, I can tell you that these phones are laggy. Moving around the OS is not quick and smooth. It's very noticeable. I've setup quite a few of these for a client and all have the issue. I Googled it and it does seem to be an issue. I swapped out to an S23 on a deal and it just FLIES! Smoothest phone I've had. Would not do A54 again unless you don't mind a laggy OS.
Even if u debloat?

Why not just buy a good one that works? Aren't these like the disposable samsungs you can buy off Walmart shelves with a 30 day prepaid card? I haven't tried a cheapie Samsung but no phone (cept tcl; which has about no camera an no file system of value) under $100 or even $500 msrp I've tried does anything but lag an mess up an make it's only value when you get happy from smashing it. An for $100- $500 you can get a 70 inch tv to chop with a sword or axe an its way more fun
This is a midrange and not low end phone. It should be able to run android without issue - if it doesn't, that's the fault of OneUI.

It has better performance benchmarks and specs than my pixel 5a, which has no problem with a debloated android 14.

Not a disposable BLU or a15, but not a flagship either. It's meant to compete with the pixel a series.

The first time you power these on, they're not decorated with 'Total by Verizon' splash screens. The moment you insert a SIM is when that occurs. It also installs a bunch of bloatware. Anyone know how to keep these phones 'undressed'?

I tried verifying number from Metro, US Mobile & Google Voice and I get the same message "not eligible for this offer"
At least you got an explanation. I got crickets.

I used a "TextNow" free texting number and that worked fine. I think TextNow will just give me another number.

Probably because no one knows. The other thread for ithe Total iPhone deal has several people with same problem. Once verified most have been able to use GV for orders.

Thanks! My Tello number has qualified for the offer. Used my Chase Freedom to avail of the 15% cashback offer.

What is the cheapest and/or easiest way to establish a new phone number with account at another carrier in order to bring the number over to Total by Verizon for this deal?
You can buy a number from NumberBarn for around $7
