Do note that this is redeemable on consoles as well via an linked up epic games account with console accounts this will be available on launching the game on console such as PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch be sure to buy it on epic games storefront app or website to get it on console

I was more talking about how the guy thinks PUBG is better game, Stadia had it free streaming for a few months before the service was shut down. PUBG I don't think is available anywhere right now, it was on GeForce Now until they pulled it for Stadia exclusivity but with Stadia shutdown over a year it's still missing from GeForce Now.

Had to figure out how to get this on pc. Anyone interested, head to the epic games launcher and click the 3 dots on Fortnite before launching and hit explore addons.

Clarifying for a few people here since I was interested in the Lego (minecraft mode) and Stage (rockband mode). It's all free but you can't set a character at first without buying something, as far as I can tell. Otherwise:
Streaming - free on Amazon Luna (maybe requires prime?) - I've only tried on my firestick 4k max but this is the worst experience
Streaming - Xbox cloud - I don't know if having gamepass affects the free experience, but this is the best streaming for latency and picture quality. Try Edge, Safari, Silk browser as available. There is a app for power users that costs a few dollars that is great - xcloud I think.
Local - PC/PS5/ XSX seem equivalent.
Local - Switch - I avoid due frequent updates and file size but there is a version

It's mostly free except cosmetics. Real life $20 unlocks the original PvE mode that used to be better for farming the in-game currency.

Fortnite is nice because even free to play you can earn rewards that eventually let you become the same as paid to play. V bucks earned from free battle pass versions can be saved and after 3 seasons or so you can afford to buy premium battle pass with the free V bucks.

It might seem random, but it's probably quite calculated on their side. For example, their new season starts in 3 days. Maybe they're trying to get people back in the game for what might be a big new season (teasers suggest the next season will have some sort of Fallout tie-in).
