I have the Recon, a very similar model. Excellent pack, the shoulder straps have a neat connection method that lets them rotate more. Good amount of pockets but not so many that it gets annoying. Bottom of bag is a thicker material that is waterproof or at least highly water resistant.

North Face - brand and quality is not the same since VF. Who likes everyday backpacks with all those stretch cords to get snagged everywhere.

They still have a lifetime warranty on everything. I've sent in 3 items recently. Two items they repaired. The third item, they gave me a credit for, which I used to purchase a few items this morning from their sale.
