Perrier had to close some of the wells because faecal bacteria was found in March 2024. And the French government ordered the immediate suspension of operations at those wells.
I think Perrier is only selling the limited glass bottle production on the remaining opened wells to fine restaurants and higher end places, due to constrained supply. So you can forget about seeing it cheap at places like Costco, Walmart, Sams, etc.
The Maison Perrier is in response to that supply shortage. Which is basically regular well water from other French wells, then added minerals and carbonation, to mimic the taste of the original. It does taste pretty good, probably couldn't tell the difference in a blind taste test. But rather than natural minerals and carbonation that came from the original wells, it is regular water that has minerals and carbonation added by man.
