32 Liter version. I use it for carry on flights. Fits a lot for its size and is comfortable to carry. Just ordered another as a gift for a family member.

This is just a bit bigger technically to be a carry with its Dimensions: 23" x 14.7" x 10.2". Assume if not packed to the brim it "should" work. Carry on via TSA has a 2024 limit of 22 x 14 x 9 inches.
Ended up buying the 32L, missed it last time it went on sale at Urban Outfitters. FYI, Moosejaw is part of Dicks and I was able to use $10 in rewards!

Agreed! I got this 32L bag from Urban Outfitters when it was on sale a couple weeks ago. Used it as my only luggage for a 4 night trip to London and it was great. Better than dragging a roller bag through those streets. The 42L at this price is a good deal too!

Yea that's where I got mine too for me and my gf. Def better than a roller in certain situations. I have sturdier 40L duffel pack for car travel and camping. The 42L here is too big for flights.

The reviews make it sound like the 42L is carry on size. Is the 32L the way to go for carry on or is the 32L being used as a "personal" under seat bag in addition to carry on?

With my experience duffels tend to get wider than listed dimensions when packed out too. I'd take that 10.2" with a grain of salt.

I always wondered why can't we(FAA or TSA) standardize the carry on size on all air planes? It will be so easy for manufacturers to stay with same dimensions, airlines to use the standard sized measuring boxes at gate, and for aircraft manufactures to stick with a design that fits carry one in the overhead compartment.

The personal item must be no larger than 18 in x 14 in x 8 in . So this 32L is a bit bigger than personal item

When I measured my 32L packed out it was under 22." But not by much. It's more of an overhead bag. I would not think of putting it under seat unless I absolutely had to.

I'm torn between the 32 vs 42 as the carryon. In actuality, will anyone from the airline take out a tape measure to verify? I see people with their large hiking backpack on international trips and no one ever says anything. The 42 has more functionality for me but I do not want an argument at the airport.
