not really a deal because it's two additional lines to keep for 24month, at bare minimum you are looking at 240+100 for next 24 months. not worth it

Does this work for plans "higher" than Simple Choice too, such as the One plan?

I bought some phones from Metro when they were giving them out for $50 including one month of service a year ago. Can I port the Metro number?

I never bothered using the 1 month service so anybody know if the number is active? Idk how prepaid operates.

I am in the same boat. i think there are a couple of different variations of the Simple Choice plan. Some people are on Simple Choice North America but I'm just on the regular Simple Choice and I am capped at 10 lines.. and have been for a while. but i will still try by calling!
I am in California.

I've done this before. Buy phone on monthly credit promotion. Wait for 1 bill to show promotion on the account. Pay off remaining balance in full. They'll keep applying the promo after that as well.
Once paid off, the device can be unlocked, correct?

There are reports this week that T-Mobile might be about to raise the price of the Simple Choice plan within the next couple of days. T-Mobile is increasing staffing through Friday to deal with angry customers and to try to retain them. I just am giving a heads up. I am waiting before I buy a new phone to add to my simple choice plan.

Not sure other people but not a deal for me. I pay $35 a month for cell service. The cheapest T-Mobile plan to get this phone is $50-60. So I would pay $15-20 more x 24 months + activations etc.

Called the customer support to get the line without addon and possibly waive the activation fee. CS advised that Boost mobile is not qualified and pointed me to the terms. I am able to checkout online but did not want to end up paying full price if they deny based on the terms after porting in.

Limited-time offer; subject to change. Qualifying credit, service & eligible port-in (AT&T, Verizon, Claro, US Cellular, Xfinity, Spectrum, and Liberty PR only) required.

After your 1 month of Metro was up and no longer paid for service, that account was closed and the phone number assigned to your account goes away (to be re-used by new Metro other customers). Which means you can't port that number because you don't have an account or phone number to port.

Even if your Metro account were still active, since Metro is part of the T-Mobile family, you would not be able to port in a Metro phone number to qualify for this promotion. The port-in number would have to come from a non-Tmobile provider. This goes for T-Mobile MVNOs like Mint or Ultra Mobile as well.

Wait so if I do this will it change my 19 year old simple choice account? Also what would the price for monthly new line be charged at?
Adding a line to your old Simple Choice account will not change it (beyond adding the line).

If you read through this thread, adding a line to Simple Choice is $10/month but they also add a $15/month 6GB data add-on making it $25/month. There's mentions of getting the $15/month data add-on removed but that's something you should confirm.

The 55+ plan is a bit of an edge case, though, isn't it? Since Simple Choice isn't available anymore, the only inexpensive TMo options (like Essentials) are on the same QCI as Mint and the rest of the MVNOs.

Also what do you do if you're 8 months in and you lose/break your phone? Aren't you still on the hook for another 16 months?
Not really. I paid it off and the bill credits continue for the next 24 months. I get a reduced bill every month. If my current phones breaks I can always swap in a new phone and the bill credits will continue.

Basically net I pay $70 x 24 months for two iPhone 13's and service.

So basically your locked to this deal for 24 months. Okay. I would say. Keep an eye out for a Verizon deal through Walmart because those can be paid off whenever and you can goto any carrier you want

So according to Reddit, some big news coming tomorrow morning. Supposedly legacy rate plans will increase in pricing. No concrete info yet. Let's see what happens

$2-$5 increase per line

I wonder if free lines will be hit with the fee as well
