Please stay away from the Mirai. The hydrogen/H2 fuel costs $36/kg. The $15K fuel card they will give is good for 25K miles. It'll cost ~$180 to fill up, which is good for ~300 miles. I'm part of a telegram group of Mirai owners. Many there cannot get near to 400 miles advertised range, no matter how hard they try. People in SolCal have to deal with unreliable H2 stations. People in SF just had their only 3 local stations closed permanently.

These cars come with a 10 year warranty plus what is so wrong with Nissan? I had a positive experience with my Nissan Leaf. Currently I drive an Outlander PHEV 2018 and it has been a very solid purchase. Granted it is not a sexy sports car, if you understand what you are buying these are great cars. Based on my very positive experience with this car I disagree even with Customer Reports. Customer Reports says that you can buy many cars better than this one but they don't tell you that either you will pay more upfront, or it won't be phev so you will pay more on the long run in gas.

IF this is true, Nissan CVTs have one of the worst failure rates in the industry.

Two years ago I rented a Mitsubishi Outlander when visiting Colorado Springs. It was probably the worst car I've ever driven. It struggled to accelerate going up hills and just felt cheap and junky. I'm sure there's worse cars out there, but I definitely wouldn't have bought the Outlander I drove two years ago.

Good luck filling it. Because Hydrogen has gone up a ton, and the subsidies are done.
In my Area (Sacrament) Shell shut down all of their stations...
Because of that there's a ton of low -milage ones for sale for under $8K...

0% interest is appealing, but I suspect the resale value on these things is terrible. For a daily commuter cuv, I'd go crv or rav4.

q50? i do oil change every 3-5k
qx56 & qx80, oil changes at 5k, then trans/diff/radiator/brake/steering fluid changes & belt at the scheduled intervals. I think it's 30 or 40k miles. the ~16 year old qx56 still going strong at 200k miles, original powertrain. I think I've changed the radiator around 150k, the alternator around 180k and the muffler somewhere in between there due to rust. But otherwise just wearable parts (brakes, wipers, etc.) I suspect the rust will get it before the engine goes as I don't drive it much anymore. The qx80 only has ~50k miles so nothing on that one other than oil changes, one major service an engine belt as it was starting to squeek on cold mornings.

It does make me wonder when specific makers are touted for reliability, how much of that takes "care and feeding" into account. e.g. if I was the type who just did oil changes and didn't do major services, then a toyota/lexus or honda/acura would be a better fit as they seem more tolerant to lack of maintenance. I had never heard of the CVT issues until this thread, and I even towed things with my QX56 (Primarily uhaul trailers with either home moving type stuff or full of mulch/landscaping rocks for my yard.) But even then I was diligent about putting the car in towing mode.

And in fairness, this should still matter. e.g. if you get the same reliability without doing thousands in upkeep, that should count for something. But for those of us that do the recommended things regardless of the make, it would be good to see those stats for vehicles that were properly maintained.

I rented an Outlander recently(no choice it's what they had). At 15k miles was already rattling and doors felt tinny when closed. Not sure if it's safe at all.

Infiniti CVT owner here. Yes they have a bad history but this looks like it has a 5/60k basic and 10/100k powertrain warranty. with all the lawsuits, i have to think nissan refined the tranny. Coupled with 0% interest I would at least consider it. That's at least 5k saved in interest.

How does this actually work. I tried to buy one earlier but they said I would owe the same amount regardless of when I paid it off. So the two years of monthly plus residual. So it was no difference. The lease ate up the 7500 so they were basically just pocketing the money.

Original post says not available in my state anyway so I guess it doesn't matter.
If you read the contract, the rent charge is earned beginning of each month. My finance guy said thing you did but unearned rent charge shouldn't be included if you buy out since it's earned each month - I'll follow-up when I get my Santander account setup but someone one the lease hacker forums did it.

Comparing the 2 doesn't even make sense. Not even in the same league.

Prime rib or Burger King?

Wrong, Model Y has terrible build quality, someone I know has one and the door panels are misaligned. In addition, the interior is low quality. They also had to bring it in several times for some recall issues with the computer (prob some other things they're hiding bc they're Tesla fan boys like you).

Cool anecdote. I don't own an EV. Too poor. Hence I'm on SD. I still recognize a straw man when I see one.

And we get it. You love Mitsubishi. There's absolutely nothing wrong with liking Burger King. Have it your way!

I thought Mitsubishi is dead. All Metro area dealers were closed many years ago
