Please stay away from the Mirai. The hydrogen/H2 fuel costs $36/kg. The $15K fuel card they will give is good for 25K miles. It'll cost ~$180 to fill up, which is good for ~300 miles. I'm part of a telegram group of Mirai owners. Many there cannot get near to 400 miles advertised range, no matter how hard they try. People in SolCal have to deal with unreliable H2 stations. People in SF just had their only 3 local stations closed permanently.

This is my feeling too, although (I'm in a top 5 usa market) there are (apparently) 5 dealers within 250 miles of me, and 2 within 45 miles of me.

The Mirage is being dropped in 2025. Probably for the best.

There is speculation that Mitsu's R&D division is being axed, and they'll become a simple reseller of Nissan/Renault cars, perhaps with some Mitsu design elements on the outside. Once that happens, much like with Pontiac and Oldsmobile, there will be little reason (left) to visit a Mitsu dealership.

Things like this make resell value on these cars tank. I would only buy if you love the car, plan to keep for the full (powertrain) warranty period (10 years), and don't mind the numerous downsides compared to more modern, better developed alternatives from the usual suspects.

How this is an SD - how to make it a SD?

Buy with 0% interest for 4yrs - start paying after 3months.
What do u do at 4yr mark? I guess no one know the value after 3/4 yrs - or even trade in value?

Look at historic values of Mitsu vs. Honda to compare value, but typically the slickdeal is to keep the car once it's paid off and drive it until the wheels fall off.

Your proposal is $40k + Tax: I don't know if I like this car.
Buying it for the price. So I should get it for an SD - typically closer to free.

Combined MPG in the 20s? In 2024?

I'm out. Really wish something like a hybrid CR-V or RAV4 would get a financing deal like this, but I understand why they don't.
I get 30mpg, pretty even mix of highway and city. I do use the "eco mode" most of the time.

So you basically pay $10k yr for 4yrs - you would own the car in full at the end of 4yrs.

SD?

Dang, isn't Taos like the cheapest and smallest of the VW crossovers? I'm sure you had to put some small down payment or some fees at least, etc and despite the 0% (nice) that's still a $38k Taos. That's too much for what it is IMO and I'm a VAG fan (had 2 Audis, 2 VWs, 1 Porsche).

Someone earlier commented they are too poor to have an EV, clearly haven't looked at EVs lately because the prices have plummeted and it seems all the parents around here bought their high schoolers used Tesla Model 3. I believe those are going for low to mid $20k, very safe crash ratings, cheaper maint over ICE cars, free chargers at malls around here where the kids hangout after school. Even used the battery is likely enough to get them 200mi+ range and for parents it's prob good deterrent for some of those teens to take off on a road trip (prob also easy to monitor usage via app).

If you cross shop, there's not that many cars in that price range and a decent comparable Accord or Camry of the same year will likely cost more. I have also seen a few fast food workers driving used Chevy Bolts at free/cheap chargers around here. The biggest issue with EVs is reliable, plentiful and affordable charging infrastructure at this point.

Cool anecdote. I don't own an EV. Too poor. Hence I'm on SD. I still recognize a straw man when I see one.

And we get it. You love Mitsubishi. There's absolutely nothing wrong with liking Burger King. Have it your way!
Tesla is trash, research it. I almost got an EV6 but wanted offroad ability - safety recalls for the Model Y are 9x that of the EV6 and the EV6 has better build quality AND ride.

0 down. No payment til June 17. They didn't even run my credit, weirdly. But my credit report does show the account now.

Car is awesome, bigger than it seems, and the 1.5L was surprisingly peppy. SEL brown leather interior also feels very premium. Quite happy with it.
