Most luggage break specially wheels because Airline baggage handles don't care two cents, throwing them around. What you should do is take a picture of the bag at the point of checking in the bag and once you claim the bag check for breakage etc. and file a claim at the airport with airline, not when you get home.

Trying to claim a broken bag at the airline is a waste of time. Plus I've traveled dozens of flights with a cheap samsomite and the wheels are doing fine. But they are rough as hell on bags. One time I put a bag of trail mix in the bag and it exploded from being crushed or smashed

I have a few swisstech bags, not luggage, but they are easy to return if you aren't happy.

I have used that. I never heard back from them. I have had 4 of their suitcases that failed on me and contacted them about it. I heard crickets. I am not the only one. Their Facebook page has a ton of people like me that have had issues and gotten nowhere.

Most airlines allow 62 linear inches in checked baggage whereas this is 64...good deal but will pass. Thanks OP.

https://travelpro.com/pages/airli...size-chart [travelpro.com] for reference
Hmm, the number of times they've measured that for me: exactly ZERO. And I travel a lot, both in the US and internationally.

Size is probably not an issue nowadays, unless you fly the "budgetest" airlines.
However, a luggage of this size you are likely to be over the weight limit for most airlines (23kg-50lbs) if you travel economy. The weight will be checked by every airline. Yes, you can loosely pack it, but a loosely packed hardside gets injured more easily.
A mid-size luggage (24-25") well packed is the most appropriate for the weight limit.
I realize it depends on the weight/volume ratio of what you pack, but I think the above is true in general.

Melalania on Walmart (or Amazon if you want to pay $60 more) has a 5 piece set for ~$135 which is polypropylene. Fits most global carry on standards (under most of the stricter EU carry on sizes) and checked bag standard of under 62 linear inches. No name brand, but it is better than ABS, supposedly less scratch-able as polycarbonate, and fits almost all airlines. Really not much to complain about

Don't get confused...this is NOT Swissgear, which is a well known company...this is some no name company. You probably get what you pay for.

I've nerded out over luggage before and during my recent trip in the EU... Swisstech is of great quality

I have a friend who always drives 20 miles over the speed limit and never got a ticket...I guess that means that no one one will ever get a speeding ticket for driving 20 over the speed limit.

I know this is hard for some people to comprehend, but just because something hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it never happens.
