NS-ZCC10 is worth the price premium IMO. Mine is over 10 years old with weekly usage and still works like day one, aside from the dead clock battery. Perfect rice every time.

Our $15 Salton rice cooker seems to make excellent rice. What so great about the Zojirushi? What does "fuzzy logic" mean and how does it improve the rice?
I've only used the made in Japan ones because that's the way I was taught but the big difference between these sort of rice cookers and the cheap rice cooker is these can maintain your rice for up to 2 days. A cheap rice cooker will not do that, but if you make your rice and eat it in one session or put the cooked rice in the fridge to later make fried rice out of there's no reason to change. (Other changes on cooking are down to personal preference but be keeping your rice edible for up to two days is a big draw at least for me.)

Edit: fixed speech to text word issues (also 🤣)

Thank you. Need something to replace the mediocre Cuckoo cooker that I picked up here a few weeks ago--difficult to read display, lid that rocks the unit when opened, and planned obsolescence through a non-replaceable battery.

Don't let them tell you Chinese products are worse than other countries'. That's what they said about Japanese products 50 years ago and will say about Indian products 50 years from now.

I always see people say the Japanese made model is better than the Chinese made one under these threads, but I yet need to any evidence that does an objective comparison of the two (or even better, in a blinded test)

I'm amazed that people even need these. Just take a cup of rice to a cup of water (more or less depending on the grain and less if you wash it), bring to a rapid boil, cover and remove from heat and let sit for 10 minutes.
It's about convenience and consistency. Just add water and go to work. Rice is perfect every time. Cheap rice cooker will dry out. Pot method requires timing and watching. If you eat rice a lot this is worth it.

Just fyi non-replaceable battery is very common in rice cookers, I have Japan-made Tiger which battery died a few years back, all it does remembers your clock setting and does not affect functionality of the unit.

you wont find any evidence because they don't produce the same models in both countries. the higher end ones are built in japan including the induction and pressure ones, and the lower ones are made in china with the more simpler functions. so itd be like comparing apples to oranges. (i believe Timbuk2 also has some stuff made in china even though they touted themselves are fabrcated in california). just assume that the japan one was made with the tenderest of care and blessed by the shinto gods whereas the ones made in china may have a handwritten note by a factory worker

I'm looking for a stainless steel interior bowl instead of non-stick. Any suggestions? Really like the Tiger, Zojirushi or Tatung brands but they all seam to make only non-stick.

I think you missed the point -- since both models are sold in the US, for US consumers it would be meaningful to know the difference of the models (if any)?

I feel like if you're going to buy a rice cooker for this much money, you should probably get one with induction heating technology.

The Surlatable costco rice cooker was induction, and was like 60 bucks when it was on sale.

Every other induction rice cooker from zojirushi or tiger was 200 bucks+.

Anyone know the difference between this one (NS-WTC10) and the neuro fuzzy (NS-ZCC10)?
The Neuro Fuzzy® Rice Cooker & Warmer features advanced Neuro Fuzzy® logic technology, which allows the rice cooker to 'think' for itself and make fine adjustments to temperature and heating time to cook perfect rice every time

Great price on a great rice cooker! You owe it to yourself to have the best rice cooker possible. Zojirushi is Japan's leading rice cooker and their ability to calculate the steam to remaining water mass is unmatched. It makes great rice that is slightly sticky, but not mushy. It handles Japonica short grain sushi rice, brown GABA rice (it basically germinates the rice & cooks it), sweet/sticky rice (has a high starch content that is used in mochi and desserts), Jasmine (sweet aroma popular in Thailand) and even does a decent job with long grain Basmati (fragrant variety popular in India & China, make sure you rinse thoroughly as it can be high in arsenic if grown in arsenic soil). If you are buying American rice check to see if the bag is "enriched" meaning that after dehulling the manufacturer added back the nutrients (this kind of rice is the only kind that shouldn't be rinsed, just examined for pebbles).
