Is this any better than Sword or Shield or the other Pokemon games?

This is a remastered of the original Gen IV, Pearl, that was released on the DS back in 2006. Having played through it and beaten it, some of the quality of life updates were nice to have but the game itself is nothing to write home about. The game is a breeze up until the Elite 4, which you'll likely get your face smashed in if you don't prep before going in.

Overall, if you're a fan of the Gen IV series and want to replay it with updated graphics, sure. Or if you haven't played it before and want to experience this iteration in the series, sure. Otherwise, I would skip it.

lol you aren't kidding about the elite 4. my kid got his face smashed in so many times and was in tears after the 3rd or 4th try and we told him to stop playing and one of us would finish it for him (after finding better team comps to deal with the types/counters). just like you said, he breezed thru it, then kick in the nuts at the end lol
