I have this. Nice laptop. It's fairly thin but definitely thicker than the Zephyrus but I went with this for two main reasons: ram is upgradable and I don't trust a brand new OLED panel with Asus' quality control/customer service. Runs well, screen looks great, but main downsides are loud fans and limited number of USB ports.

Are you running predator sense or nitrosense? I heard nitrosense is better but only available for certain models. I've been using the predator helios 18 and have noticed with fans set to auto on any performance mode that the fan ramp on and off, it has a terrible fan curve by default. Setting to manual mode when not doing anything intensive has been the remedy and back to auto when I'm playing games.

Running predator sense, haven't really played around with the settings. The fans are quiet for any non gaming tasks but ramp up pretty quick for gaming. It's not terrible, I can still use it with speakers and hear the games fine.
