They're literally made by sonos. They say sonos on the front don't be a Karen
Using in walls should be your last resort sound quality wise.
Why would you be ripping them out years/months later? Speaker technology hasn't changed in years. Just the processing/signal communication (i.e., Bluetooth, Spotify connect, etc). Which means you just change your amp/processor, and leave your speakers alone.
The two real downsides are 1) if you don't have the wires already run, it can be a pain and likely not worth it and 2) while the sound quality will be good, you can usually get better sq in a standalone speaker. That said, in a room with bad acoustics anyway where you don't need studio level quality (like a kitchen) hard to beat in wall/ceiling).

Edit: I see you'll need an amp
Can I use my Yamaha amp/receiver or does it have to be a Sonos amp?
No amount of engineering could make a Bose 4" driver a "subwoofer", just like putting a huge hole in the middle of the woofer isn't going to improve the Sonos sound quality. Those pesky laws of physics.
Sonos Speakers connected to a Sonos amp…wouldn't want it any other way

-These are Sonos branded speakers, but are made in partnership (and by) Sonance.
-They are passive speakers and therefor require an amplifier.
-They can be used with ANY standard 8ohm amplifier/receiver, however they were designed specifically for use with the Sonos AMP.
-When used in conjunction with the aforementioned Sonos AMP you will benefit from the ability to use Sonos' TruePlay (auto-tuning DSP) function for a customized sound curve to help 'optimize' the sound in your space.
-You can use them as rear speakers with one of their soundbars (and the required AMP) but unless there is a design necessity I would suggest something else due to the cost and complexity of install.
Those are the general facts. This is a great price for these speakers if you have the application. I have owned and sold Sonos for over 15 years and can't say that I felt the value of being able to run TruePlay on these vs. comparable Sonance (or other brands) speakers was worth the additional cost. TruePlay can certainly improve the overall performance in a space but the materials used in these general align with the most entry level series from Sonance while commanding a more premium price.

how else are you going to have speakers in the backyard and patio?
