Wondering same. Got the 499 package from Costco with the extra blade and extra battery but seems like generally ego rates better.

Before people start complaining about the low torque (6.0 ft-lbs), please know that this model will work just fine for medium sized lawns. If you have a large lawn or steep slopes then this models isn't for you.

This is a good deal. Thumbs up.

I sold all my greenworks products and swapped to ego and have been really happy. I'm really pleased with the snowblower and powerhead. The mower is great too, but it's hard to say which is better since I'd be comparing a lower tier greenworks vs the higher tier ego from the mowers I had.

Both are good products and will mow the lawn well. Easy to change blades out and all that jazz.

I ordered it early this morning from the previous post - https://slickdeals.net/f/17497497-21-ego-power-56v-self-propelled-lawn-mower-w-7-5ah-battery-charger-419-free-shipping?page=4#commentsHeader

hopefully it works out - so sick of ethanol making my spring times frustrating.

I've had Greenworks for 5 years and switched to Ego for the past 3 - both do the job but I feel like Ego is way more powerful and doesn't get stuck on wet grass. You can also cut lower on Ego and the whole feel is better. No disrespect to Greenworks, but my mowing time has decreased by minutes.

I already have a Hart 40V, a Craftsman 60V, and an Ego 56V. Been collecting on deals. But man, I now want this, almost makes the mower free when accounting for battery.
BTW, between the 3 brands I just referenced -- Ego all day.

It all depends. I had the same set but had issues with it less than a year later. I bought from Lowe's and they wanted to charge me 125 diagnostics fee to find out what was causing problems. Wheel would lock in and stop moving. The 7.5 ah battery is discontinued. Contacted ego support and they were pretty useless. But told me to go to an ace store which was 25 miles away.

Craftsman is not what it used to be back in days. Quality gone to shit. My friend had a drill set that didn't last 2 years and it wasn't even used for commercial. Avoid anything craftsman

Cutting torque has no relation to the size of the lawn or whether or not you're cutting on slopes.

I had to sell my old low-torque Ego mower and go back to a used gas mower because it kept shutting down in thick grass, or if the lawn wasn't 100% dry.

I'd like to go back to an Ego electric but I'm holding out for a deal on one of the 7+ foot-pound torque models with dual batteries (less chance of shutting off due to overheating).

Did you get what he just said? Electric mower may only last him… 5 years and he changed mower. My gas powered mower ran over 15 years and still going strong. Gas used may be few gallons per year.

I never see a grass cutting service used an electric mower.
And I bought the 20-inch deck push version of this mower 10 Summers ago when I moved to Atlanta, and have used it 30+ times per year for 10 years straight with zero maintenance whatsoever, no gas, no emissions, nothing. Everyone's MMV.

This is good info. I'm closing on a house with a yard of similar in size. Needing a second battery is going to push me to gas. Glad you love the mower though!

I know an electrical engineer that researched the batteries of several mowers before getting his mower. He found Ego batteries were under-rated. The batteries are capable of providing much more current than the mower draws and the protection logic built into the batteries is better than most. The end result is that the batteries ~should~ last longer than batteries used by other mowers. Considering the battery is the most expensive part of an electric mower, he went with Ego. I picked one up from Lowes in march when they had them on sale along with the second battery. So far, I a quite happy with it and all the features it offers.
