Own the ego mower. Mower failed within warranty they sent me a new one. Battery failed at the 3 year and 2 month mark. They told me I have to buy a new one. The batteries don't last. Do yourself a favor and google the 7.5ah batteries. Get a 10ah and get the 5 year warranty.

And I bought the 20-inch deck push version of this mower 10 Summers ago when I moved to Atlanta, and have used it 30+ times per year for 10 years straight with zero maintenance whatsoever, no gas, no emissions, nothing. Everyone's MMV.
Your yard must be small plus you may have to buy extra battery.

And hopefully your story is true. If it is, I'm glad you find the right companion. Wink

This or the 80V greenworks 5Ah self propelled?
I'm all-in in the Greenworks ecosystem, but if I had to do it again, I would go Ego. Parts availability for Greenworks is extraordinarily poor compared to Ego, so if something breaks, you're probably out of luck.

Don't know how Ego customer service is, but if you need to call Greenworks, expect it to take multiple hours on hold to talk to someone.

Did you get what he just said? Electric mower may only last him… 5 years and he changed mower. My gas powered mower ran over 15 years and still going strong. Gas used may be few gallons per year.

I never see a grass cutting service used an electric mower.
I also never seen a restaurant use an electric stove, whats your point? There is a thing called economy of scale. A grass cutting service is going to cut numerous lawns in a day and will need to recharge the batteries several times in that period. Using electric means they either need to run back to base or charge with a generator. Either way they are using gas, so it makes sense to cut out the middleman. That said, I have seen multiple services using electric blowers and push mowers (for areas they cant get to with their riding mowers).

A person at home can simply charge the battery when they are done. An electric motor just starts, first try every time; they are significantly lighter and more maneuver; and there is no need to winterize. Not to mention, no more going to fill up the mower only to find the gas can is empty and then having to make a trip to the gas station. I used gas for years and resisted going to electric until this year and I am kicking myself for waiting for so long. The advantages of electric tools far outweigh the disadvantages for most households.

I switched to an ego mower a couple years back and regret it. I got tired of fighting the carb each year on my old gas mower, but the electric just isn't there. If the grass is tall or damp it struggles and leaves a lot of clumps. I am looking to go back to a high end gas mower to get proper lift and cut. My 5 ah battery is near dead. Buying a new battery every 3-5 years makes the mower disposable.

Looks like a good price on a good mower, but checking Camel and it looks like it's been this price 12 other times in the last month. No need to jump on this immediately

I have never tried another electric mower brand than Ego, but I am on my 5th year with mine now. I mow once a week on average from late April/early May all the way till almost October where I can start making it 10 days between til sometime in November. Never had an issue, has done perfectly for me and my batteries are still going strong. Mowed last night again actually.

I have three batteries, one 5ah primary for the mower and then I have two 2.5ah batteries I think they are as I also have the blower and string trimmer. Mower is fine, but the string trimmer and blower is never ever going back to gas on no matter what size yard I have. Super nice and I like the power head load on the trimmer a ton. I will say the blower really chews through a battery quick though. Mower virtually always makes it through my whole yard, but I have had to swap a smaller one in to finish the yard a few times. When especially tall or thick it can use the whole thing but with my other two it's easy to swap out and finish up. Overall I would certainly buy Ego again.

It all depends. I had the same set but had issues with it less than a year later. I bought from Lowe's and they wanted to charge me 125 diagnostics fee to find out what was causing problems. Wheel would lock in and stop moving. The 7.5 ah battery is discontinued. Contacted ego support and they were pretty useless. But told me to go to an ace store which was 25 miles away.
Customer service post purchase is a big deal for me. Green works is very disappointing

I ordered it early this morning from the previous post - https://slickdeals.net/f/17497497-21-ego-power-56v-self-propelled-lawn-mower-w-7-5ah-battery-charger...

hopefully it works out - so sick of ethanol making my spring times frustrating.
I sure hope so cuz this is exactly what I just did.

Had mine since 2018. The only battery that died was a smaller one that came with my ego edger. Original battery that came with the mower still works great. After I bought mine it seems all the neighbors started buying them 2 yrs later, probably a coincidence. The only place where it can struggle is if I try to mow super fast a bit too short and longer grass. Still works great just need to go a bit slower. It's not a timemaster but still does a great job.

This is good info. I'm closing on a house with a yard of similar in size. Needing a second battery is going to push me to gas. Glad you love the mower though!
I have a 1/2 acre yard. Have a pool and patio and large landscaping beds that eat up quite a bit.
With a regular mowing, 4Ah battery can usually do the job.
Even my little Hart 40V mower can do half the lawn on a battery.
I can't imagine a 7.5Ah battery couldn't do your yard, but I of course don't know the specifics.
That said, a second battery is always good because you can charge one while you're string trimming, or if you get more battery tools to use in the ecosystem.
Gas is still great, don't mean to try swaying you. Just providing another data point.
