Just got this tv delivered yesterday from the Bestbuy deal and I'm blown away at the quality of the picture for the $. Its been a massive upgrade from a 65 X900F that I've had the past few years. Highly recommend this tv.
I bought this a year ago when it came out, on sale for $2.2k. The TV is super bright and the software works nice and smooth. My only issue is that it has horrible ghosting, mostly during action scenes or really anything with movement when watching a show. For gaming, gaming mode is 100% needed otherwise input delay is like 1 second. The ghosting is also there. See pic https://imgur.com/a/obRPcex

I'd say I wish I would've went with a Sony instead, as originally planned.
And I'd love to see gas under $2.00 a gallon

Recent software update fixed this actually.
software does not change DSE and scaling.

In regards to scaling, some TV like mine are terrific and some are horrible. Only matters for older OTA content.

A good scaler can make a 480p single looks pretty close to 720p

I can't wall mount this but how sturdy would you say the stand is?
Its plenty sturdy, it feels like it weighs alot for the stand when you put it down. But once its in place the tv won't be messed with very much, so its plenty adequate.

Bought the 65" of this TV last fall and it has been fantastic. Perfect for gaming and sports and 4K movies. What more could you ask.

Amazing bang for the buck. As for reliability I have many TCL models from cheapest to most expensive and all are still going strong since 2016

Not my experience at all. I have 3 TCL's, a 75" series 6, a 55" and 40" series 3. Had them all for several years without ANY issues whatsoever.
We've got 2 of the 55" TCL Roku ones that Walmart rolls out every Black Friday for like $288.

One is still going strong after 3yrs and the other one DIED exactly at 1yr, 1 month!

Black screen, sound only. TCL support let me know that it was out of warranty and nothing could be done.

So I don't know. I've had the 85" TCL on my watch list for awhile but now I don't know if I trust them or not.

If I'm going to get scared into a buying some big extended warranty, maybe I should just use that money to get an LG or Samsung instead.

I just read a glowing review of a tcl, model 85C805K but when I went to try to purchase I see it's only viewable through Amazon UK. This doesn't happen to be one of those situations where it's a different model number in different countries is it? Or has this TV just not yet been released in the states?

Agree. Use TCLs in all my secondary rooms. Never an issue. Would buy TCL over Samsung any time. EVERY Samsung I've owned failed within 5 years.

You should have returned that, that is a defective panel

Its incomprehensible that all reviews would not mention this ghosting effect. Several should have pointed that out. In light of that, I choose to believe you were unlucky enough to hit a bad production batch or did get several bad panels in a row or there is an internal setting that needed to be adjusted.

With no posted review mentioning such this issue, nothing else makes sense.

Regardless I still stick with 'big box warehouse' purchases from major companies to know my warranty will have no issues.

That's because you're looking at reviews. AVS forum, with the owners right there and discussing the issues, they mention it. People even have to turn off VRR on PS5 just to improve it.
