Tosot is a brand owned / made by Gree, which makes a third of all air conditioners worldwide.
They are a very close 2nd tier if not almost tied with first tier manufacturers for ductless like Mitsubishi, Daikin and Fujitsu.

Bought 2 12k Tosot units over a month ago. Their build quality is A+ when compared these no name brands. Def go Tosot if you're putting it in your own home and not a flip.

Check the SEER ratings. Those single hose units are often 6-8 SEER, when many of the dual hose are in the 12-13 SEER range. So you are talking almost double the efficiency. That is a massive difference.

Sure, but it would have to work a lot harder to keep the garage cool. You'll be wasting a lot of money on electricity.

Is Turbro or Cool Living as good a brand as Tosot for the more powerful units (12k-24k BTU ductless, vs 9k BTU for the Tosot)?

I'm looking at this for a 900 sq ft ground floor condo if that makes a difference.

i hate all the attic nonsense in my central heat pump in texas. it has an air handler in the attic, with a big drain pan underneath and drain lines, whole big old ducting system, i hate it all and seems so inefficient

so I've been contemplating a mini split when/if my central dies and i need to replace it

it's a small 1100 sqft house...

how does the mini split get vents to all the different rooms? or it doesnt? does this sound like a good idea?

i already figure diy install out of the question, a few things are just too involved imo and this is one of them

230-volt supply can transmit the power more cheaply because a smaller current is needed, and so you can use thinner cables and/or lose less energy through heat generated in the cables.

You would need a multi zone mini split system or multiple mini splits. The only way conditioned air gets distributed is through the wall or ceiling cassettes. There will not be "vents" in each room as you are used to in traditional HVAC systems.

240V is more efficient. Lower current draw, so able to use smaller wire size.

If there's a vertical opening window, I'd just do a standard or U-Shaped window unit. It's more appropriately sized for that space, but still overkill (depending on wall thickness and whether the shed is insulated).

If no appropriate window is available and you are allowed/willing to cut a hole in the wall, you can also mount the AC that way. You get a bit more flexibility with a wall install as well.

I'd also advise to make sure there are safety measures in place to prevent the dog from succumbing to deadly heat. Remote temp sensor or wifi enabled AC unit at a minimum.

Thats nothing. I had installers quote 3500 or more for install. Its too much and i dont trust myself with cutting into the wall
