Tosot is a brand owned / made by Gree, which makes a third of all air conditioners worldwide.
They are a very close 2nd tier if not almost tied with first tier manufacturers for ductless like Mitsubishi, Daikin and Fujitsu.

Bought 2 12k Tosot units over a month ago. Their build quality is A+ when compared these no name brands. Def go Tosot if you're putting it in your own home and not a flip.

Thats nothing. I had installers quote 3500 or more for install. Its too much and i dont trust myself with cutting into the wall
I installed a pioneer unit after waiting a whole year since purchasing it since I was too scared to install it but it's been performing flawlessly. I didn't even use the vacuum gauges etc, just the pioneer quik evac canister to evacuate the lines before letting refrigerant in. All you need is spare a whole day or two for the first time and follow all the steps properly. It's always intimidating on a first install.

Not in the market, but why would anyone get 230v version if 120v version is available?
Think of dryer. 230v will efficiently dry the clothes better than 120v not producing enough heat.

Looking for people that have experience with these. Are they suitable for a half finished basement? Do they require professional installation if you don't have HVAC experience? Thanks

Are the turbros pretty good also? Do any of these qualify for federal tax credit?

Lower current draw, so able to use smaller wire size.
That's true but you're also going to need a two pole breaker which is going to cost more and take up more room in your panel. Unless you're making a long run the cost difference is probably a wash. When I installed my 12k BTU Tosot I went with 240 just so that if I ever want to upgrade to something larger I won't have to redo the electrical.

Very true. If breaker space is an issue then 120V is the way to go. This is one reason I always get the largest panels possible, even if I think I won't need it. The extra cost compared to smaller panels is negligible in the long run. Still takes the same amount of labor to install etc.

What's the advantage/disadvantage of this type of unit (1 outdoor and 1 indoor) vs a unit with a single outdoor unit and two indoors? I have limited outdoor space so was hoping to get the latter but they rarely go on sale. Thanks

I know folks have already provided benefits to going 220-240v version, but I'm going 110-120v because in case of power outages, my portable generator that feeds into my service panel is 4000w 120v so yeah

I looked up and contacted people advertising for minisplit on Facebook. Many of them will do the installation for you for about $300-$500.

Granted, their license and warranty and carefulness are... uncertain (I got one that went silent after the unit leaked refrigerant), but in my POV, if things go bad, I probably feel less stressful getting a new unit/installer than trying to get the licensed HVAC technician to come.

A couple people answering this question are wrong. 240v vs 120v has no effect on efficiency or the warmth/coolness of the air.

Watts are watts. 240v draws half the amps as 120v, but the wattage is the same on both. One isn't cheaper to run than the other. For example, 3 amps at 240v = 720 watts. 6 amps at 120v = 720 watts. You can use 14 gauge wire for 15amps or less. 12 gauge for 15-20 amps.

Basically, if you're ever going to run it with a generator or with solar, go with 120v. Not much difference other than that when you're discussing units that draws this amount of power.

The lines need to be vacuumed down.

As others have said there's a million YT videos on this. Here's one I found that helped me get an idea of what I am getting into.
