If you know where the main water line comes into your house and it's easily accessible, should only run you a couple hundred dollars on today's standards. But if it is accessible you could also do it yourself. The device comes with a spacer so you cut a section out of the main line that length plus extra for the fittings, install male threaded adapters using one of the methods I mentioned below and attach the threaded adapters that come with it and install the device. If you ever need to remove it, you just put that spacer in his place. If you're not comfortable shutting your water off at the meter or using SharkBite or PEX fittings or pro-press or using a torch and sweating the pipe yourself, then yeah call a plumber.

I got one during the last sale.

It's saved me a few times already. My waterfall pond periodically clogs due to leaves, which causes the water to overflow and causes the water replenishing thing to keep running.

Installation is super easy if you are semi handy. No idea how much a plumber would charge to install it.

Plus my county has a $200 rebate on these.

For those that have it: how reliable has it been? Does it throw any false positives (like defects a leak but there really isn't one)? What are the manual options in the event of a power/wifi outage?

w/o power it would just be like a regular water valve. It can be manually turned to open and close it.

Look at your main shutoff valve. It should be marked with the pipe size.

One of those things wished had when/if **it happens. About $200-300 install depending on where mainline is located. Also, need outlet which cost extra or be cheap run long extension cord, lol.
"Could" diy but needs tools and solder coppers pipes how many willing to take that chance if never done it or handy know how.
This should be standard on new development like sprinklers.
