Regarding the widely reported issues with Pixel 7 users receiving delayed texts (up to 20 minutes), duplicate texts and calls going straight to voicemail without the phone ringing, I started having those issues with my Pixel 7 Pro about 6 months ago. I thought is was a Tmobile issue so I switched to Visible by Verizon. Same damn problem! Buyer beware.

I am generally a pixel fan. Great camera, bloat-free, frequent timely software updates.

But the latest generations with the tensor chips have absolute trash modems. Terrible 5g connection issues. I switched to a moto edge plus 2023 from a pixel 7 and it is better in every way except the camera.

Pixel 8 (non pro) was $399 not too long ago, so this is a bit high especially without the 7 year update guarantee.

I have the no ringing, calls going directly to voicemail problem as well. Various OnePlus phones, going on for over a year now. Seems to be T-Mobile problem for me.

At this price point it's a steal. I recently switched from the P7P to the S24 regular. Performance-wise theyre the same. The Samsung's camera is no where near as good as the Pixel's. I've never had any of the flunky issues that others have had with this phone. That being said I like the S24's size more and only made the switch for this reason.

I've been stuck on a Samsung S21 5G (not + or Ultra) with some screen scratches for a couple years now, waiting on a deal on the S24 Ultra, but just can't justify the price (even with "increased" trade-in values).

Will I regret getting the Pixel 7 Pro now instead of paying twice the amount (or more) for the Samsung S42 Ultra? There are things I definitely like about my S21, but it's starting to get long in the tooth. I think I could get $170+ out of it on eBay though, making this a $230 net purchase.

Not S23+, but I went from a S22+ to the 7 Pro (due to Mint deal during past holiday).Pretty much exactly what you said-
7 Pro has a better camera. And a higher res ppi screen, but not a fan of curved sides.
Samsung fingerprint unlock, much better.
As far as everything else, speed, battery, network, etc, not a noticeable difference- both are great android phones.

But I preferred my S22+, mainly because I was in the Samsung eco-system (s9 tab ultra and 6 Classic watch), and I had gotten used to Samsung's skin of android.

First off, it should be noted that these are NEW. I REALLY wish there were stores that would sell Manufacturer Refurbished phones at a nice discount but surprisingly Apple seems to be the only one doing that. 99% of what you see out there (including Woot/Amazon) are just "Seller Refurbished" which could mean they did little more than clean the screen. I find it amusing that Google paid $$$$ for Pixel 6 devices (it cost me $50 + tax to upgrade from a 6 to a 7) but yet who knows where they are being sold.

Anyway, I have a 7 and honestly it's not noticeably different from the 6. I think the 8 is likely a bigger improvement, so maybe when the 9 is released there will be some good deals.

I get great use out of my 7 Pro. It has bugs now and then. Right now I'm running the newest beta, and it has a bug with tts and bluetooth. Hopefully that gets fixed. Hard to complain when I'm in beta, though. I do get some poor signals sometimes, but I'm not sure how much of that is just because the signal is poor.

I was an avid Nexus user back in the day. I went from Samsung to a Pixel 7 and quickly back to Samsung. The vanilla experience isn't what it used to be. However if you are tight on money, this is a really good deal for a supported high end phone.

Those are the broke/value phones I recommended over time as I recall. Make do if you can. Don't get scammed into monthly insurance for refurbs or a bad 3yr contract.
