Taipei is okay. But the entire country is available. You jump on a train for maybe 10-15 bucks and head to Hualien/Toroko Gorge, and you'll wonder why you'd ever want to leave. Relax and stay at Jici beach, which is one on my favorite places in the world. Here's pictures I took in 2008 of Jici Beach. (attached)

It's probably the safest place you can go in the world in general. Crazy amount of affordable public transportation that is perfectly clean and safe, and you can reach most places in the island in a few hours.

In the summer, I would head to Hualien by train and explore the area/relax and don't leave until you have to! If it's winter, I'd go to Kaohsiung and down to the southern tip.

I lived in Taiwan for 6 years. Amazing place and even better people.
lol any Asia airlines is better than US's ones... China Airlines is amazing.
I can guarantee you that nothing will happen this year or the next. The likelihood of China actually making a move to "take back" Taiwan is slim.

I would definitely recommend anyone who is interested in going. I love it there and will probably relocate there permanently once I retire. Great place, great food, extremely convenient, and amazing people.

I won't go until details cause no one comes here to read a novel of a comment, but you get the idea. There are lots to like.

I'm assuming you weren't ever actually planning to go anyways. Where are you going instead? Around the same dates as this deal?

I don't think I've ever traveled anywhere without somebody saying why it's not the right time. One key I recommend is turning off the TV. They stayed where they were, and I went all around the world. I'm very thankful.

FYI, China Airlines is from Taiwan, not China. Two different countries. Good deal!

China Airlines is from RoC. That's why it's called China Airlines. Taiwan is just an island, not a country. RoC has more than Taiwan island as it's territory.

Isn't Taiwan surrounded by Chinese warships right now? Like more escalated than normal?

My understanding is it's still one of the safest places in the world. But just should be aware of rising tensions going on

That's been going on for as long as I can remember.

China's not gonna attack. You know why? They hold nearly $1 trillion dollars in US Treasuries even with all of that selling the last couple years for cash to prop their dead economy nevermind all of their other assets. One little mis-step and frozen and confiscated.

Also they don't produce enough food internally. They have to import 60% of it weekly. Just these two items alone nevermind all of their other weaknesses would be their downfall if they ever tried anything anywhere.

All these threats are a joke and necessary to brainwash their own population that they still lay claim to the independent country of Taiwan. What a joke.

Have a good time in Taiwan yalls.

No, don't go to Taiwan if you ever have a choice. Japan, Korea, SE Asia.

Japan, Korea, SE Asia are all pretty great, too! Depends on what you're looking for and when you go. SE Asia is generic so I'll omit that. I'd probably substitute the Philippines for S. Korea, but that's just me. The longer you stay, the more you learn and experience! Go and make memories!

Not sure why you're getting downvoted… but the downvotes are probably the same people that thought Russia would never invade Ukraine again as the Russians surrounded the country with more than 100k troops and weaponry prior to finally moving in.

Yes, tensions between China and Taiwan have been skyrocketing. China has expressed that they will be taking Taiwan - but nobody knows when. My bet is before Biden is out of office/when the next U.S. election results become clear.

So, yes- one traveling to Taiwan in the near future should be aware of this, as your chances of being unable to fly out of Taiwan once said conflict begins will be very difficult and dangerous.
Stick to Israel Palestinian issues bro
